The lore is great. We get too learn why some champs hate each other and the world that our favorite champions live in, as well as the lives they lead. The only problem is the fact that Rito made the entire idea of summoners irrelevant, which basically made the entire idea of the League of Legends existing in Runeterra a joke, thus making the entire formation of the league of legends non-existent, and thus, the hundreds of pages of lore.

Aleksandar Gostiljac League is a faster paced game, nothing else really differs except the warding system and trinkets and the fact that going to base is free and there are no couriers, and there are buffs from jungle monsters, not just the river of the map where basically anyone can go and have no fighting for them what so ever. Conclusion: League has more action in the earlier phases and the whole game, Dota 2 has early action and late action but the laning phase is really boring for the fact that there isn't much roaming and ganking going on. This all might differ due to heroes played but this is for what i've seen. I just found League earlier than Dota, but Dota isn't bad at all. It's for anyone who likes a bit longer of a learning experience for the game and a slower pace.

Unlucky Support sigh. I mainly refer to how riot has been shafting the lore department. Did you notice champions have been getting increasily stupider lore? (I cited Bard as an example only) Did you notice how that stupid valoran journal they used to make is gone (if you even knew that was a thing in the first place), the judgement scenes they used to do for each new champion are gone, they had to retcon almost everything they did because they got lazy and the backstories got all fucked up (look at the shurima and frejlord events, those were just coverups for the huge mistakes they had made). Riot hasn't given a shit about lore since season 2. That's why it's so funny to me when someone says "hundreds of pages of detailed backstory". They're not hundreds of pages, they're not detailed and most of it is just bullshit. Does that explain the joke to you?

The problem with MOBAs is that they have to either faction-lock individual heroes, which would make them more predictable and annoy people who want to play as a goodly vampire or an evil paladin or whatever... or else accept that there is no way their premise will make narrative sense. "Okay, these people just want to kill each other... repeatedly... for no particular reason!" They can try, but that's what it's going to boil down to... like those Gundam Musou games where everyone just sort of shoots first, asks later.

Mike Rex The skill cap required to play is not actually all that relevant to the success of an eSport (E- Sport, ESport, i-Sport?) An eSport is mostly relevant from the size of it's audience. The number of eyeballs watching the games and therefore the adds distributed around the games by the sponsors, who back up the pro teams financially so they can train at the games all the time and not worry about starving. Unfortunately for Starcraft 2, the game is apparently not entertaining enough to retain an audience as large as LoL. Even freaking Heartstone beats it on the number of eyeballs and therefore could potentially be built into an eSport. (That game is still lacking a bunch of features to support a proper scene however and Blizzard is keeping is very casual. Too much randomness. This is where maybe skill as an influence.) LoL and Dota have a decent skill cap. Lots of variables, but steady reliable mechanics that allow for decent strategies to be put into play. It's also a team VS team orientated sport, as opposed to Starcraft's 1 VS 1 format, which even in outdoor sports is usually vastly more popular, even if the individual effort, pressure and skill required of each player on the football field is lesser than on a tennis field for example. Basically what I'm saying is that sports are not a meritocracy. Any professional player of any sport will have to put in a real effort, but they will not be rewarded with the corresponding amount of money and the sport itself with a corresponding amount of popularity. So yeah. Sorry but LoL is as legit an eSport as Starcraft, if not more so due to it having the biggest scene. I still prefer watching a game of Starcraft over a game of LoL however, but that's just personal preference. I've actually never got heavy into a single Dota clone type game at all. They are just not my thing. But saying Starcraft is the REAL eSport is trying to disregard reality and substituting your own.

First you guys have fun, then the more serious you take the game, the more unforgiving you'll be and cynical towards your friends for each other's mistakes. Or, A friend could invite a friend that you don't know, then that friend invites another. In my experience that has happened and I had no idea what the other people found funny, offensive, or whatever. So you kind of have to be careful when you play with friends. I wouldn't start out playing with friends because you should get used to being independent and playing by yourself with strangers.

i'm not legitimizing their behavior, as i'm also totally against it, but someday you'll understand, when it's not even 20 minutes yet but you already have someone on your team that is 0/9/0 or when someone is auto attacking in the lane, mobas are highly competitive in that wins or losses matters a lot, thats why people get so salty and mad, if it was just one game it's alright, but when in every game there's someone who ruins the game for you because of simple mistakes like feeding or autoattacking in the lane, and being new isn't an excuse if it's this type of mistakes, as you must read guides and learn basics before playing mobas, not just start playing with no previous knowledge
