The first reveal of Dota 2 was The International 2011 itself. That's how they announced Dota 2. Valve put up the tournament with 1.6 million dollars and invited the 16 best Dota 1 teams to compete. The players were given access to the game 2 or 3 weeks before the tournament. Dota 2 was only officially released in 2013 because from 2011 to 2013 it was in open-beta.

@@BrunoDGames Long story short, when Guinsoo and Pendragon left to form Riot, IceFrog (who was the sole developer at the time) started looking around for publishers to make a standalone game. He went to a lot of developers including Blizzard but he was declined each time. He worked briefly with S2 to make Heroes of Newerth, but that didn't last long. Around the same time, a bunch of developers on the TF2 team at Valve started playing DotA, and GabeN got interested in the game. He contacted IceFrog asking whether or not he was making the standalone game, and the rest is well, history. As far as I know, to this day IceFrog is still the main developper of the game and is still responsible for the balance of the game.

Kuroky actually played in this tournament. He was playing in the original GG.net with Puppey as captain (playing for NaVi in this TI) and Pajkatt (playing for Online Kingdom), Azen, Swy and Miracle (a Swedish ex-pro)... but just 2 or 3 months before the announcement of this tournament Puppey got a proposal from NaVi that he couldn't refuse. Pajkatt, Miracle and Swy decided to leave also and eventually the rest of the team went inactive. The team was still invited (mostly because of Kuroky and because the tournament was in Germany) so he put up a team with fellow German players + Azen from Russia. They got last place XD so I guess that's we don't see him in this movie. But Puppey and Kuroky played most of their career together, so eventually Kuroky went to join NaVi and Puppey after the second TI.

Just a quick comment on hyhy's education at 10:54. He was studying at a polytechnic where you graduate with a diploma rather than a degree, and in order to get into a local university (there were only 3 universities at that time), you'd need to be the top 20-30% of the polytechnic cohort. And because we still value formal qualifications here, it's honestly unsurprising that his parents really wanted him to get a degree because it results in higher pay and better career progression, which he would be unable to do if his polytechnic grades fell too much.

And TI1 is the first time people seeing dota2, before TI1 none have the game except the 16 team who will compate After TI they give key of dota game to limited people and they give some key to their friend, so it is a limited game (still many key that circulate thou) 2013 they close the beta and finally release dota with no key so everyone can download and play It for free

That's a misinformation. Dota 2 before 2013, is still owned, published and developed by Valve. It was in a limited entry close beta, then a open beta before a public release. Dota 2 Reborn is just a relaunch of the game in a new client and game engine for further optimization, but it is still Dota 2. Valve did not bought DotA because it's a mod and it's not owned by anyone other than the modders who created them. All Valve did was to hire the modders and give them the opportunity to develop the game at a higher budget and a more optimized game engine.

Dota 2 from 2011 and 2012 u should buy the game in order you to play but after 2013 they make it for free that's why that movie was released 2013 and called "FREE TO PLAY"
@vincentloojijian3000
@vincentloojijian3000 3 жыл бұрын
No, you do not need to buy the game to play. It was just a close beta phase with limited entry, then it slowly open up to the public through open beta, and lastly the eventual release in 2013. The whole "buy to play" thing is just people who got the beta invitation keys and are selling them online because they were limited.

just comment on what you mentioned about grades in college Other countries had different weight towards testing and scores. Here in the US its just based off your GPA and thats weighted against students from other schools, but in other countries, you're ranked against other students in test scores (at least in High school) Im not quite sure if thats the same in Asian universities; however, if that's the case, then its not just about getting a 70% to pass the class.

You practice and train to be a pro gamer??? Yes that means it’s a sport, it’s also a game. Just like football is just a game and it’s a sport when it’s played at the highest level. The difference between a game and a sport is do you make money and can have a career at the game. If you do it’s no longer a game it’s a sport. Dota is a competitive sport. The only difference is you sit at a computer instead of using your physical body. Football is a physical sport Dota is a esport. Football you use your speed, agility and body. Dota you use your fingers, reflexes and mind.

So don't say that people don't die from video games.

sports are nothing more than professionalized games. basketball is a was recreational game, all sport are recreational games that someone put money on and said "this is sports" so disregarding video games as a sport, which is the newest form "game" is.... i dunno. when someone says gaming is not a sport, it just rubs me the wrong way. but hey to each their own.

8:01 - never heard of chess? - "the sport of mind"? you are wrong here. Sports are still games .. that's why you say let's watch a game of football. Same with DOTA - you have to train (your brain) and put in effort to increase your skills
@BrunoDGames

games and sports are different, sports are physical, games can be both but more mental, golf is a game and some aspects of it might be considered a sport. soccer/football is a sport because it's more about being an athlete and training physically. esports are games, yet some of them could be considered a sport (such as ddr/itg, or other rhythm games for example)

@@BrunoDGames agree to disagree. There are sports that train all the muscles, others that train just one part of the body, like arm wrestle ... is that not a sport to you? you don't have to be fit for that, just to have a strong biceps or whatever.
