New York City FC were in Leagues Cup action on Wednesday night as they faced Mexican opposition in the form of Pumas UNAM. The Boys in Blue saw two goals ruled out by VAR before a header from Taty Castellanos gave them the lead in the 61st minute. They were pegged back a little over 10 minutes later by a Rogério strike, and that forced the game into penalties. After eight kicks the scores were tied at 2-2. A missed attempt from Maxi Moralez allowed Sebastian Saucedo to win the game for Pumas.

I didn't get to watch this game because I was out of town (I managed to catch the penalty shootout via facetime), but now that I see these highlights, it's even more infuriating of a loss. Regardless of the two disallowed goals, how did we not put at least three goals past this Pumas team? We've got some major problems, and I just don't know who's at fault.

This league is designed for the MLS to win . If they don’t win the cup then MLS is not as competitive as everyone thinks . They can’t win the CCL and this cup. 1) Mexican clubs are just starting their season 2) playing with mostly youngsters, 3) The Central American referees are against Mexican clubs , 4) they only play in the United States, 5) only one leg. 6) MLS clubs are in in mid season, so they should be in better shape. MLS now has no excuses.

The central American refs are not against the Mexican teams and all your points except for the points about scheduling and location matter.

If its at SoFi stadium in mexico then its not only scheduled in the USA either. Your points aren't great at all they are all flawed actually
