Great video. I would just add that Bikes are a perfect Grenades Strat platform and can punch up even more as a result. Also don't sleep on Warrior Pride, especially on a 6 man squad. They can reliably pick off that last model with 12 attacks, +1 to hit/wound and +2 AP from the strat.

Excellent point! I actually do think Warrior Pride is a fantastic callout. So many times my bikes will leave 1 or 2 single wound models left in the enemy unit and this extra AP can be clutch in combat to warrant the charge

One thing you didn’t really touch on in this video that we were discussing in the discord was their ability to screen and move block. If you bring a six man squad of bikes out of reserves and string them out, you can zone pretty much an entire side of the board to the enemy’s Strat reserves. With the amount of board presence we have with our other units, it can be VERY frustrating for your opponent to utilize their reserve units. Even a 3 man squad can occupy a significant amount of space on the board, and 90 points moved in front of something that’s about to charge a more valuable unit like a HLF or Thunderkyn can be a good way to flip a trade into your favor, especially if once you put their shooting into said unit to soften it up a little bit.

Great callout on the screening, I definitely glossed over the movement blocking and could have gone into more detail, but ultimately they make for excellent utility pieces if properly played

Great breakdown. Liked the big picture stuff in addition to the math. Another thing that I think is overlooked is that in order to fully wipe the unit a lot of the time an opponent has to expose something that is semi real (assuming the pioneers don’t get charged). 20 wounds is a lot to chew through at T6. I’ve found a lot of the time I’m left with a squad of 2HYLas and then I just pick them up and use them as scoring or a small harassment unit.

Thanks Enigma! I totally agree, a squad of 6 does allow for some nice damage soaking where the added wounds count. I’m always a little reluctant because I do feel like despite the high quantity of shooting, they struggle to punch up while still feeling fragile

@@VotannVersus40K Agreed, but one thing that helps is that they can reinforce a flanks shooting and once it’s cover loaded jump back off the board. I think of votann as an army where multiple activations are required to pick things up. Votann wants to take the flanks and shoot the center IMO, and 6 man pioneers are one of the only threats we have that can attack multiple zones

I have found that I get better results with the hylas on a 3 strong and ion on 6 strong. That may just be me but a 6 strong is going to be hammering something and a 3 strong is doing whittle damage while getting in position

I would like to see the ion beamer get a range buff to 30". This would give you a good reason to take it.

Here's some free advice for all hernkyn lovers: dont scout forward against world eaters. They are faster, and they will eat you up, lmao. That's a mistake i'll only make once!

Man. I wanted this faction so bad when it launched, but the whole immediate nerf kinda killed all my interest for 40K.

That was quite some time ago and things have significantly changed as a whole to the game since! Highly recommend the army if you like the aesthetic. They are super fun to play and have a solid win rate
