Hi Mangold, really enjoyed the 12 licks, lots of examples to practice. I'm puzzled though. You're using the A scale over a C Major chord progression in Key of C. And you're showing us that the A scale works over it, and likewise a C scale would work. Is this true of other Keys? Do they have multiple Blues Scales that work? Is there some guideline as to which Scales work over a particular Key? Thanks! Jerry

In blues, both the blues scale in that key and in the key three semitones below it work.

This works because A minor is the relative minor to C major. The A blues scale turns into a major flavor over C. Think of them as pentatonics with an additional flavor note.

@@deplinenoiseIndeed. The fact that the A blues scale works over C is easy to understand. It's far more difficult to rationalize why the C blues scale works so well over a blues in C! :)
