I'm MoSotho. I think Sesotho variated from Silozi. I think so because in Lesotho, the 'L' in 'Li' and 'Lu' written is pronounced 'Di' and 'Du', like in 'Lumelang', it's pronounced 'Dumelang'. I notice that Bo(madame) Patra's 'L's' curl the tongue almost making it a 'D' sound. I think that because there isn't enough alphabets to express our tongues(sounds). Sometimes we have to put two alphabets together to symbol a sound that is not there in the Euro languages and therefore not in the Roman alphabet. For example, hl-e(ka); tl-a(ma). I also noticed that white people are not accustomed to pronouncing 'ts'(for tseetse) at the beginning of a word, becoming difficult for some, unlike when it's at the end, like sta'ts' or sta'tes'. The expression 'ts' in Sesotho or African languages stands as an alphabet on its own. Unlike in euro languages, the 's' at the end of 'stats' or 'mats' symbol plurality as in 'umbrellas', cars etc. In an African language like Sesotho the 't' and 's' in that order stand together to form one alphabet as in 'tl', 'hl'. My conclusion is that Basotho used the 'Lu' for dumela eg for they knew its not a straight 'D', but there wasn't a direct alphabet or symbol for that expression, somewhere between 'd' and 'L'. And what about Tshi-Kalanga? I heard they greet also 'dumelan-i'.
@techknowhow88977 ай бұрын
Its the other way round. Lozi ppl are descendants of sothos who migrated to the area now called Zambia from Free State
@thamintombela6308 Жыл бұрын
And when we greet we greet in plural context , reason we do that its because we also acknowledge the ancestral lineages you're representing when we greet in that way , its because whats holy you are never direct towards thats why african languages speak in metaphors...
