Dione DeMitro is the President and CEO of United Way of Lake County. She is a lifelong resident of Lake County and proud graduate of Harvey High School earning her Bachelor of Science degree from Allegheny College and Master's in Education Administration from Cleveland State University.
With a career rooted in service to others, Dione began as a high school biology teacher in the Mentor Schools. She also served as the director of the Nonprofit and Public Service Center at Lakeland Community College where she assisted numerous nonprofits in developing strategic plans and providing board governance training. Additionally, Dione served at Leadership Lake County, as the vice president of operations at DeJohn Funeral Homes, and as a vice president at Burges and Burges working with school districts and municipalities on strategic planning.
DeMitro has committed herself to making Lake County better for everyone through community service. She was a volunteer for United Way for many years, also serving on the cabinet, allocation committees, and being a celebrity server and hijinks hero. Additional volunteer services include the Lake County ADAMHS board, the Leadership Lake County board, the Rabbit Run Community Arts Association Board, the Mentor Schools Advisory Council and the board for the Association of Fundraising Professionals. She currently serves on the advisory board for Lake Catholic High School. She continues to volunteer for numerous organizations, recognizing that time is often as valuable as treasure when it comes to giving.
She has two adult sons, Christian and Gabriel, and her goal is to leave everything better than the way she found it.
