Nursing is a very diverse career path. When most people think about nurses, they see us as people who care for patients. This is absolutely true. We’re often found in hospitals, offices, and long-term care settings. We provide care with compassion, while at the same time making critical decisions and judgements that are based on a course of intense preparation in the science and art of nursing.
Aside from patient care, there are many other pathways to consider. There are nurses who work with attorneys, bridging the standards of law and nursing. There are nurses that work in forensics, or home infusion therapy, some that function as a parish nurse, health coaches, entrepreneurs, educators, writers, the list is endless.
Along with our full-time faculty, Lakeland has nearly 50 part-time faculty that are here to facilitate your education as a nursing student. Lakeland’s nursing program is rigorous. It is based on industry and professional standards. We work closely with you to achieve your nursing career goals.
Our program is strong in both theory and in the clinical performance. Each semester involves hands-on clinical experience at the bedside, and in our extensive nursing learning labs. Our labs have state of the art equipment reflective of what you will see in the clinical setting.
Upon successful completion, our nursing students graduate with an associate degree in nursing and are eligible to take the national licensure exam known as the NCLEX-RN. Upon licensure, graduates are able to begin their nursing career in a variety of clinical settings.
Lakeland graduates are highly sought after in the health care market because they graduate ready to meet the demands of the health care environment. Many of our students have job offers before they finish the nursing program.
