cronicjointpain I dealt with that my whole time in H.S. with Algebra. And I'm an expert at everything I attempt to do. Even if I enjoyed or put more effort in one more than the other. It was enough to take what I need and apply it to self or others situations. But I hated algebra. I can do it tho. Now its just something that takes a long time to do nothing. Doesn't even apply to most or any of your life. But I did get a different understanding of this. At the end of my H.S. Years. After I transferred. My alt school in the city helped me more than the suburban n regular schools. So its always about the teacher. Hate text book teachers anyway.

Very good video for beginners. I’ve been driving manual since I was 15 years old I’m now 37. Definitely the hardest part about driving manual is getting the car moving from neutral to 1st gear once you’ve got that down it’s all good. Only thing I disagree with is holding the clutch at a light in 1st gear. When at a light it’s best to hold clutch down and shift to neutral and hold the brake only. When light turns green, push clutch down and shift into 1st gear as you would normally start and away you go. As you get better you’ll learn how to downshift coming to a stop which saves your brakes instead of just switching into neutral to come to a full stop.

Great video. I just bought my first car that is manual transmission and I have no idea how to drive it. When I practiced for the first time, I stalled out 3 times. I just kept having trouble starting out in first gear and getting past it. My dad is currently teaching me but I have also been looking at videos so I can learn that way. Your video actually helped me more than the other ones out there. Gonna be practicing again today! Thank you!

Mate it's a smart idea when u're at a red light to put the car in neutral, not just for the clutch wear, but for the sake of giving your left leg a rest. You don't know how long the red light will be. Plus, the only extra step u do take will be a refreshing push down onto the clutch with ur left leg which has been resting for a good minute, and a simple slide up into first gear. This is what you should be teaching, as it is the more correct method.
@Amirichi7 жыл бұрын
I usually switch it into first gear when I know my green light is due any second and I'm one of the first cars in line (this method will force the driver to learn traffic light sequences and to keep them aware and ready), or if I am far back in the queue of cars, I will keep the car in neutral for as long as I need until I see the 3rd car in front of me start rolling forward. Remember, you want to minimise the wear on both your car and your left leg lol.
@UpshiftUnlimited7 жыл бұрын
Amirichi yes, you are correct. Since posting this video, I have changed the way I stay at red lights, and I have adopted the exact method you're talking about haha I wish I hadn't ever said that I leave it in first :P Thank you!

Remember that hard launching a car one time from first gear is a lot harder on the clutch assembly than stalling multiple times so don't feel like you'll break the clutch or wear it out. The best gear selection based on km/h in most cars: 1st = 0-20 km/h 2nd = 20-40 km/h 3rd = 40-60 km/h 4th = 60-80 km/h 5th = 80-100 km/h 6th =100+ km/h
@Imtotallydiggingthis6 жыл бұрын
I would call that bad advice. Unless you are accelerating, you want to keep your rpm low. All your gear selections are wrong if those are cruising speeds. It's more like: 1st = just to get going, you will rarely use this gear for anything else 2nd = When the car is rolling but not much more than so 3rd = 30-40 ish 4th = From say 45 ish 5th = From slightly under 70 6th = I've never driven a 6 speed car, but I would assume from slightly under 90 For cruising, you'll get the best fuel economy when you hit as low RPMs as possible without the engine lugging (then it's too low!). But if you are on the lower end and need to accelerate, then downshift first.
@lmaogames45366 жыл бұрын
Or try to keep the rpm at around 1500
@Imtotallydiggingthis6 жыл бұрын
LmaoGAMES The sweet spot will be different för different cars. Just listen to the engine. But somewhere around 1500 will be about right for most petrol cars.

I am a driver trainer who drives manuals only, and I am so glad that you are teaching to start off with no throttle. I teach all of my students this. Then when they are doing normal driving they will not burn the clutch each time they start off. In normal driving you do not need much throttle to start off, unless you are racing. Your clutch will last much longer if you know this. Great video !

Sending this video to my niece before I start teaching her, awesome way to introduce her to the clutch etc

Just wanted to say this is the best manual tutorial I’ve seen. You did an amazing job explaining things, when I release the clutch I tend to squeal the tires and give it to much gas haha but I’m getting better at not doing it.😊

chris kallfelz lol not the best advice but you’ll have dope ass burnouts every time you launch from a green light
@haiby065 жыл бұрын
Before the light turns green bring the clutch up halfway while holding down the brake ( or handbrake) and the car will be ready to move off and as soon as it's green release the brake and the car will move off immediately. Thank me later.

Thank you so much!! I started practising on a manual car three years back but gave up altogether because those teaching me were not patient expecting me to know things and we ended up arguing all the time. This tutorial helped make sense to the things I had learned and I am now more encouraged to give it another go.

I’m not gonna lie this video was the only video that really helped me out , please make more . I just got mine 3 days ago & it keeps cutting off at stop signs & red lights . It’s really aggravating but I do love the car
