Hi, I know I'm super late but I've been learning Korean from your Korean teaching videos for the past 10 days with a one day break so far... Regarding 모습, I feel like the most accurate translation would probably be "one self" or "self" by itself... 내 모습은 어디로 날아갔을까? would probably be translated to "Where did I flew away to?" ; 거칠 것이 없었던 내 모습은 어디로 사라졌을까? would probably be translated to "Where did my brave self disappeared to?" ; 용감한 내 모습을 찾고 싶어 would probably be translated to "I wanna find my brave self"... So anyway, I think these translations would make the most sense... What do you think?? I binge watch your videos in my free time as a lesson for me to expand my Korean language knowledge haha I think listening to Kpop definitely helps cuz I will be like "Hey, I heard this phrase from a Twice song before" XDD... Thanks for putting in as much effort as you do in these educational videos, just trying to let you know that your every single little effort won't go unnoticed... Sincerely, from a 16 y/o (17 y/o in 한국 나이,哈哈从您之前的视频学来的) in Malaysia... Much love goes out to you & your familia & everyone else

Hello!! Just wanted to say thank you so much for this lyrics series!! Actually before chancing upon your videos, i had tried to work on song lyrics as well because i wanted to explore the way Koreans usually speak in apart from basic sentences usually found in books etc. but it was really difficult getting around it as there were many conjugations and particles that i was never exposed to and looking them up didn’t show much results either.. so this video really was everything i was looking for!! Thank u :))

I know I’m late to this lesson. But I have a question. When using the -다+고 (verb), can you use the past base form of the verb that is being used in the expression? For example: 나는 한국어가 재미있었다고 생각했어. “I THOUGHT korean WAS fun.” 나는 한국어가 재미있다고 생각해. “I THINK Korean IS fun.” So do you need to change the forms of the verb in the expression like this? Or can I just say “나는 한국어가 재미있다고 생각했어.” To mean “I thought Korean was fun.”? In the lyrics it says “... 모든 것이 다 간단하다고 믿었어.” “I thought everything was simple.” Its still in past tense, without using 간단했다.
@tjpark741
@tjpark741 3 жыл бұрын
I think this is really good question. 나는 한국어가 재미있다고 생각했어 = I thought korean language WAS interesting. In korean, the embeded sentence follows the main tense. It is like you say : I thought "korean language is interesting". 나는 한국어가 재미있었다고 생각했어 = I thought korean language had been interesting = I thought "korean laguage was interesting." If you really want to express past of past form, you can use "었었" not "었" in verbal conversation.

Ah I see. You mean 이제. Hm...이제 and 지금 are almost same meaning but slightly different nuance. For example, "You have not studied hard so far but now you are studying hard". 이제 may mean this kind of "now" in many cases. 지금 is just "now". But except the subtle nuance, both are same meaning.
