She's Russian of Korean descent. Many Koreans escaped to Russia & China from famine especially in the northern part of Korea during the early 1900s. In Russia, they are known as Koryo-saram (Корё-Сарам) and during the Soviet era, many Koreans were deported from the Russian Far East to western Russia & Central Asia in fear that the Koreans in Russia might collaborate with the Japanese & undermine Russia's interests in the Russian Far East. Today Russian is their first language and very few of them are able to speak Korean.

In fact, she is not Russian by nationality, but has Russian citizenship. Almost 80% of Russians live in the European part of Russia.

Over thevyears i had a desire to learn Russian, but everytime i met a Russian they would discourage me by saying it was a difficult language, consequently i didnt pursue the matter until i met a chinese jet pilot who said it was easy, and i could learn it like a piece of cake....i was a little surprised, but felt better, eventually i met more optomistic posetive russians who said the same....i was encouraged n after watching a few teaching segments on KZfaq....eventually came accross russian 101, although most of the teachers a pretty good, i found Svetlana's smiley face, simple lessons and relaxed manner easy to follow.....she has encouraged me to pursue the matter....thank you miss Svetlana....see you in Russia

thousand is tisyacha ten thousand is desyat' tisyach 23,000 is dvadtsat' tree tisyachi counting in russian is the same as English in that you count in thousands instead of units of 10,000 like some asian languages. Billion is milliard so 3 billion is tree milliarda

Her accent sounds like a korean, her mother language. my native Russian speaks not like her, even when my friend speaks who live in state for years English, still her Russian accent is thick.

mamakoi59 Her accent is definitely not Korean. Close your eyes and listen to her. Her accent is Russian. You must not have heard many native Korean speakers speak English if you think her accent sounds Korean. None of the Korean natives I know have accents like hers. Just saying.
