Awesome...! I'm glad I was helpful. Yes, I also think coils are amazing, the way they take 12 volts and increase it to 30,000 volts. Thank you for the view and that positive comment.

I enjoy your explanations , very understandable. I had a 1994 Oldsmobile 88 royal i started it up after work , and suddenly my car died . Found out my ignition module went bad, about a $300.00 part close to

I was confused why its called condenser in the automotive industry when its a capacitor. My Google friend told me historically is was known as condenser back in the 1700s somehow changed (for the most part) to capacitor in the modern world. Auto parts house charge you more for a condenser but an equivalent capacitor from an electronic parts house is a lot less. That's a good circuit illustration of how to product sparks, ever wonder what that condenser is for? You don't need it to produce an arc at the spark plug end but you need it to save the switch or prolong it.

Thank you for the view and the information. The ignition condenser used in the points and condenser ignition system was the hardest part to explain to my students. When I was an automotive student, the instructor explained that it was to make the points last longer. The condenser would kept the points from arcking. I have tried to operate a coil without a condenser, and it doesn't work. It needs that special effect the condenser provides the system. The way I understand it, without the condenser, the induced high voltage will arc at the points and not at the coil output. Thank you again.
