Todays video we have a bit of a guide for you about Grappling in Street Fighter 6! The grappler is the most noble and respectful kind of character you can play in any fighting game, so learn whats up from the basics, to maybe a few more advanced ideas! Plus I got enough questions asking me how to do a 360 so I figured I might as well figure out a video to stick that in somewhere lol

Can't get enough Manon. She's exactly what I wanted from a judoka ballerina in SF. Still working on moving into DR after landing two light normals. If I can get consistent with that I should be able to more consistently get all my medals by the start of round 2. I love that feeling when I know my opponent knows they are three buttons away from death even at full hp.

I appreciate you covering when to normal grab vs. command grab. Even the pro Giefs I've seen don't seem to use regular grabs that much, despite how good they are for Geif to maintain his pressure.

I started introducing the spinebuster (3+TH) normal throw as a throw loop into my Gief gameplan last night. It is so so dumb, but it works so so well. If you time the throw early on the wake up, there is time to whiff the throw on your opponent's neutral jump and still lariat AA them.

My favorite buffering command grab was in OG Soul Calibur. Ivy had this wiid command grab with disjointed directions. You literally couldn't do it without buffering it, though you could get into something like a quick poke or her move that switched her sword from solid to whip. Boy was THAT a lesson in fighter mechanics before frame data and videos were even part of the discussion, let alone built into the training mode! Frankly, for the mid-range game with usable basics to control the space, I think enjoying Ivy is what's got me drawn to Manon's play style.

For a moment there I was wondering why you end the 360 with an ⬆️ instead of ↖️ or ↗️, but then I remembered you're playing on a hit box, so ⬆️ is one button whereas the diagonals are two. (Plus ⬆️ is vertically symmetrical.) I hadn't pulled off a 360 in something like two decades, so I was very happy when I got SPD in World Tour and saw how easy it is! (Imagine throwing it out of Juri's dash 👀)

I remember figuring out the 360 with just trial and error with Zangief in SF4. I started to always do forward to up back while trying to hit the button around the half circle mark. At the time I thought of it as hitting the button early and then continuing the 360 motion, with the game just reading it as close enough. But now I figure I must have just been hitting up back and the button at the same time without realizing it. But I guess it didn’t really matter, since I got the timing down and I can still consistently nail them to this day.

I noticed a pretty nice thing by messing with grapplers in training mode: from a punish counter drive rush Lilly can always follow it up with at least a medium Mexican Typhoon (heavy can connect if you're not hitting it from absolutely max range) and Zangief can always follow it with an heavy Piledriver, because during the animations they slide towards the opponent to always be in position for a dunk, the damage is a bit less of what it would be because of scaling but otherwise it's very big damage for virtually no additional resources. Another thing I found out is that Zangief is the only one who has a grab super that can't be jumped after the super flash, Manon and Lilly get to contemplate their life choices.

That'll be great! We'll wait patiently, no worries haha. I've noticed three aspects that differ between 'Giefs throws: 1. The Damage (slightly) 2. The Distance created after the throw 3. The Frame advantage. Besides the fact that three of them side-switch, three don't and one can deal more damage (but you are +0 after). I'm sure somebody more experienced like you can more easily extrapolate their usages, like better oki, better corner carry and the such. By the way, been loving your videos!
