I think the best way to explain to English speakers how to pronounce Щ would be not to repeat Sharp but to say - She. For me this exactly the way Щ is pronounced. The way Ы is pronounced very similar the way most of Americans pronounce Really in the first syllable. Overall the lesson is very good and the alphabet is very well explained.

The technique to be used for the proper soft consonants is called palatalization, because in order to pronounce these sounds properly you need to push the middle part of your tongue closer to the palate. Look it up if my short explanation is not enough.

Very good video explain. Question. How to write the "ay" sound in English like pay or day or way or table or in Latin " ae"? We in Dutch using the writting French "é" letter or Dutch "ee". I hope you can help me please. Greetz, Leendert, The Netherlands.
@LearntheRussianLanguage Жыл бұрын
Hey Leendert, good question. Usually they write that as ей or е + softening vowel. For example the word 'player' (as in MP3 player) can be written as плейер or плеер.
@lizardsisland6059 Жыл бұрын
if we want to write these words in russian we usually use эй pay = пэй day = дэй but as the creator of the video said the word mp3 player is written плеер that's because sometimes we read е as э (but i dont think there's a rule for that you just have to memorise the way you read this type of words)

Hello, I’m wondering if you have any tips on pronouncing "е" I struggle to hear it correctly. In the words Тебя, как дела, and Меня I hear тибя, как дила, and миня.
@LearntheRussianLanguage Жыл бұрын
You're correct. In those words the "е" does sound like an "и". It's called vowel reduction and if the "е" is unstressed it's basically pronounced as an "и". The same thing happens for unstressed "я".
@annasolovyeva101310 ай бұрын
e is e when stressed (e.g. "лес" - forest) And is reduced to i when unstressed (леса́ - forests not to confused with "лис", "лиса" - fox, male and female/general respectedly 🦊 леса́ and лиса́ sound the same). "Несёт меня́ лиса за тёмные леса". C. Russian nursery rhyme from a fairytale.

Hey. You're just starting out so it's perfectly okay to feel stumped and not be progressing that much. As a Russian learner myself, I totally understand. The Cyrillic alphabet doesn't take that long. You just need to put in the effort and trust me you'll see the results.

@OksanaFromRussia Жыл бұрын
@@user-pv4vo6fg5u задача актёра - натренироваться на произношение пары коротких фраз в фильме, это не так сложно. Но полностью избавиться от иностранного акцента в своей речи во взрослом возрасте невозможно. Если человек старше 12 лет, то всё - поезд ушёл.
