Such a perfect video for starting out. Gives you a realistic progression of how you should practice and gives a better perspective on the real learning curve of flying a quad. I recently started on a simulator and I learned VERY quickly that good pilots truly make it look way easier than it is. I feel like every person I know who tried drones at some point thought it would be easier to get into, got into a big crash and stopped all together. Having realistic expectations of your skill level will make more people stick around!

I love that you started him on a sim. My friend has only been flying for a couple months. He is going to Rampage with us. He is trying to get as much time on the sticks as possible before than. But he keeps breaking stuff and costing himself money. I keep trying to tell him he should just fly a sim to save wear and tear on his gear and he will build that muscle memory. He always points out that the sim isn't the same. He is not wrong. No sim feels like real life. But... the stick movements are always the same. SIM time can have a huge affect on your flying.

When you get 1 dont do as I did. Got it at dark with 30mph winds. After I put it together and set up radio I put it away. Later at a out 2 am. I couldn't sleep it was calling my name. I flew the tiny whoop around the house but couldn't take it anymore so I went out in the middle of the street. I was just gonna Hoover it. All good till I just barely bumped the throttle it went about 20' right now it startled me so I dumped the throttle. The quad was falling like a brick so I whacked the throttle like a whoop. BAD BAD BAD!!! quad went about 200' its dark and there's s huge redwood tree on the corner. So I dumped the throttle and boom hit the edge of my cop neighbors house. He looks just like the ROCK but bigger lol. Blew the battery off it hit the esc. So quad would no longer fly. I fixed it, but it takes forever to get parts. I suck at soldering so it only flew for like 2 min. And dropped a motor out hit my truck ( huge dent) then started smoking before I got it unplugged it caught the esc on fire. So I ordered 2 more esc's. Then I burnt the tabs on original flight controller. So I ordered another one. It didn't come for a month. Now I have new soldering stations 2 third hands every type of light and magnifying glass you can think of. My $300 dollar investment is around a grand if you add in the whoops I've bought to learn with. So GOOD LUCK!!!
@independentmind1977
@independentmind1977 5 жыл бұрын
LOL, I'm actually thinking of getting a ready to build kit to cut some of the pain. I also need a new soldering station since mine is crap and only good enough for big jobs, I already invested in a radio and am looking at FPV Goggles. So yeah, I know what you mean, this is looking like an expensive startup, and I haven't even started crashing yet.

Very Impressive Blaze, I will look forward to seeing your videos on youtube soon. Great job on the instruction too. One thing that was not mentioned on the video is when shooting gaps, don't look at the tree, you will tend to hit what ever you are looking at. Pick an object that is centered in the gap and a ways beyond the gap and stay focused on that until you are through the gap. This technique works for all gaps no matter how small.

I spent my first hours on the simulator last night. I don't know why KZfaq showed me this old video but the timing is perfect and it'll be very helpful ♥️ After flying a phantom for a few years I understand the basics but there were some tips in here that are specific to fpv drones. They would have taken me a long time to figure out. I learned something today. Thanks!

damn not bad! better than me after a few weeks. i started on a 2" dumper and then got a mantis. from there i went 5" and finally whoops. honestly sim to whoop to 5 is a much more logical movement in learning, and clearly this guy also though so. this is the content we need for sure, this is what will get more people into the hobby, and give us a much wider community.on a side note, ive now seen a few videos with presidrib, and i gotta say, drew, im very happy with how things are going. im just one guy, and its all opinion, but this video, the session 7 review, ect, they have a different feel to them, if that makes sense, and i love it.just dont stop vloggin because you and grinder were pretty much my afternoon as far as watching the content you guys produced individually, and the several videos you guys did together.

Reminds me of when i got started and used josh's video series on learning how to fly in a simulator. Although I think he will need a bit more sim stick time to fly something he built himself as that's a lot higher pressure situation with the added bonus of a quad that handles less well.

thanks so much. I'm Soon to retire, kids out of the house, & looking to get back into RC. Use to drive gas buggies, but really love drones. Just a little intimidated. Your vid locked me in! Thanks

Great. I started the hobby. The last week was my first time flying a drone build by myself. Some crashes and propells damage. I'm not sure if I have to adjust PIDs and Rates. I still practicing. From Quito- Ecuador, South America.
