I got back to biking after a 10 year layover. In the first year I had two crashes due loss of riding craft. I took 2 advanced courses at age 63 and have been accident free for 11 years. Your channel continues to sustain my better riding habits. Thanks Trevor Kilbey, Switzerland.

I'm from Canada and I am going to put this, the most straightforward way I can. Without Kevin expert advice and Field Guide I would either be dead or seriously injured right now. And I can't count how many times I've used his advice and the field guide on everyday riding. I've been a member for 4 years. Kevin has been boosting my confidence. and inspiring me to be a safer rider. And the Forum has been so helpful so much experience there you learn something every time you go there thanks Kevin I owe you a lot.

I have been a MCrider member for a couple of years. I'm 68 yrs old and live in Houston Texas surrounded by crazy, distracted drivers and all of them in a big hurry. I returned to riding at age 66, having not ridden since age 29. I kept my motorcycle endorsement for all those years, so getting back into riding, I was "legal" but oh sooooo rusty. I took an intermediate skills class which proved to me just how rusty I was! I was the only "legal" person in the class as all the others were younger current riders who were there to get their "M" endorsement. (I was the only classmate with an endorsement but the least proficient rider of the entire class!) I am so thankful I stumbled across MCrider website, because it helped me focus on the safety aspect of riding, ie road skills and road strategy. I focus more on the road strategy part so I hopefully will not have to use my road skills that I am constantly working to improve. I have to look out for me, because all these other millions of drivers certainly are not looking............ I have learned so much from Kevin's videos and from the more experienced riders that are on the forum. Thank you Kevin!

I am 70 years old, and I just passed my California Motorcycle Safety Program Basic Course. I haven't ridden for over 35 years. When our instructor was having each student introduce themselves, he asked why he/she was taking the course. My response was, "I am a returning rider, but I haven't been on a motorcycle in so long, I realized that I needed to build my skills again from the ground up. Essentially, I am a new rider on my second season." Every tip given in this video is correct. In fact, every MC rider video I have watched is superb. Kevin has both feet firmly planted on terra firma, his coaching is clear and thorough, and his ego never gets in the way of his providing very valuable advice. I will be getting a membership soon.

Barrie, Ontario...After 57 years I finally fulfilled my dream to get my bike. I used KZfaq extensively to research the type of bike I should get and finally decided on a Boulevard C50T. I also did a lot of research for training videos. I hit the subscribe button after watching 2 of your videos. Your calm demeanor really helps to focus on the advice. Great content! I eagerly await your Friday videos.

I got back into riding about five years ago, when l was your age. Demo rode a pre owned 2010 Suzuki Blvd. C50T.. It fit me like a glove. However l always wanted a Goldwing. So settled on a pre owned 2006 Goldwing. Found it just too big for in town riding. The dealership just wanted to make a sale. Within two weeks l traded it in for the C50T.. Since then I have owned a Yamaha fjr1300 es model and currently a pre owned 2016 HD Road King. But I still miss the C50T., which fit me best, :-). Safe Travels.

Always enjoy comments on MCRider and turning 77 this year and having my motorcycle license for 59 yrs I know there is always more to learn. Had both hips replaced two years ago and kept riding by getting a 400 cc Suzuki Burgman, never thought that would happen , but getting on by placing my leg through the bike and having running boards to change my leg position has kept this senior in the wind. Don't get to many waves from other riders on my Burgman but it's more important to me to be still out there having found the right bike for me. So to all the seniors out there, listen to MRider when he says get the right bike and you can keep riding.

Staying in a "Student Mentality" keeps this 71 year old, a safer rider. Started riding in 1964. Laid off from 1982 to 2005. Took a new riders course in 2006 and glad I did it. That class taught me stuff! And helped erase my bad habits. Thank you Kevin. I hope to see you on the road... Tampa Bay.

I’m located in southern New England and have been a forum member since my first riding season a couple years ago. MCrider is THE MOST comprehensive motorcycle skills and strategy resource I’ve found. The weekly videos give me something to work on or think about. The field guide helps me practice my skills in an organized manner. And the forum... that’s the icing on the cake. Here, I’ve found an endless fountain of experience and support. I find myself going on daily and reading every single new post. The other members are so friendly and knowledgeable, it’s such a refreshing change from the toxicity usually found online. Neighborly advice with some good-natured ribbing thrown in is what keeps me coming back. Kevin, you do an amazing job. Thank you for what you’ve created here.

I'm a 67yr old man returning to riding after a 15yr hiatus due to a hand injury, I came across MCrider while looking for information & tips to refresh my memory over the winter before deciding to get my motorcycle license this coming spring. Long story short I found Kevin to be a very passionate & professional in the way he presents his Videos & knowledge on motorcycling! I can hardly wait for spring to arrive so that I can get out and practice some of the tips he has provided! He covers the A to Z of riding smart & staying safe while still enjoying the pleasures of the open roads! Very informative! Great content!

Paul, UK. Started riding 1968 and did so for 5 years. Then in 2000, I was walking thru a parking lot and saw a beautiful sports tourer. I thought "I want one of those one day" I bought a small 250cc Honda and decided to have one private lesson. At the end of it the instructor said "Well, you're not the worst student I've had". I was shocked. He recommended I have another 9 lessons and then join an Advanced Motorcycle Club and obtain a qualification. I joined a club and needed to upgrade in order to ride at 70 mph continuously, so I bought a 500cc machine. I gradually progressed to 900cc, 1300 (my dream Yamaha FJR1300) and eventually a 1500cc Goldwing. Although I've attended many police courses over the last 20 years I still look forward to the McRider video every Friday as a refresher. Highly recommended.

Bill from Saskatoon, Saskatchewan - my riding season ends in October and starts up again in April, so I'm new every Spring. Started riding on the farm in 1968. Have taken the new rider course here a few times. Even instructed for a bit back in the 1970s. I really find your Friday videos very helpful and recommemd my fellow riders to watch your channel. There is always more to learn and practise is an absolute requirement. Your segments on road strategy have largely kept me out of trouble for many years now. Thanks and keep up the good work.

I really enjoy all your teaching videos. My first experience riding was learning how to ride FIRST AND FOREMOST SAFETY SAFETY SAFETY, my friend was a great rider and never came close to a wreck. He was a jack of all trades and loved all big twin Harley’s and the older indians, after many miles and different roads and traffic situations he gave me the ownership of a beautiful 1957 Harley panhead dresser. I loved the whole experience and continued to utilize the training I received. Since then I have ridden a couple other Harley’s my favorite my younger brothers 1937ULH in stock configuration. I bought a 1971FX in ‘72 and built it into different custom configurations until I finally hired a great custom bike builder and had the engine built with a 93 cubic inch stroker engine and all top shelf running gear and suspension for a better handling road machine. She is being finished in this final stage this winter. I have been watching your safety and riding lessons for quite awhile. I am going to take all the riding classes every year starting next summer here in Alaska. I had to find the right course that would allow me the ride my bike. I am 71 and retired truck driver and have been a Harley rider since 1968 and I still love the experience. Thank you sincerely for all your training videos. I will becoming a member next month.

I’m privileged to live in Southern BC, a riders paradise and a gateway to mountains, lakes and desert. As a returning and older rider, Kevin’s attitude, encouragement and instruction continue to be foundational to my ride. Without the weekly videos and the support of the incredible library and fellowship of the forum, my awareness of skills, avoidance of pitfalls and daily riding experiences would be deficient. As a returning rider (6 years ago), I have found that some skills deteriorate just over the winter. Spring starts with a return to the parking lot as many times as I can. When returning I started with a Scooter! Worked like a charm and let me learn easily. Now my cruiser still gives me the opportunity to learn.

Per your request Kevin, here’s my MC history. I’m in my 50’s. Started riding when I was 8. Moped, then dirt bike, then road bikes. Obtained MC license when I was 16. Became a LEO and joined the MC Unit after passing the toughest two week of training a motorcyclist can take, the LEO Motor school. Rode “professionally” for 16 years. I’ve been in car chases, presidential motorcades and honor guard rides for returning soldiers who have sacrificed it all. Even after all of these decades of riding, training and experience, I still have learned additional tools and strategy from you and your channel. As you’ve said; you never stop learning. Thanks again for all you do, Kevin. God bless and keep the rubber side down.

As a concealed carry instructor, I TOTALLY understand this! My worst students on the range were the ones who came in telling me how much experience they have, and that they just need to take the class to carry legally. And now that I am a returning bike rider, having not been on a bike for 30 years (since my dirt bike years), I am taking this experience into consideration and telling myself that I am a complete rookie who has everything to learn. Great video, once again. Thank you.

Great video as always, as a returning-to-riding rider I enjoyed your comments at the beginning, had a few of the know it alls in my class until we moved to the parking lot. As a returning rider my biggest concern was not what I had forgotten but what I never learned 40 years ago when riding was not required. I enjoy your weekly videos and occasionally read the weekly rider blog, it would be helpful to organize these threads by topic. Keep up the good work!

I am a very healthy and active 74 year old former rider, who has never forgotten what a great feeling it was to ride. I stopped riding in 2005 as I was living in New York City and didn't get the time to ride, so sold my BMW 1250. I did buy myself a Vespa 5 years ago, and enjoyed it for a few years, but tired of its inability to really ride like a motorcycle. Now, living in Linwood, NJ near the beach and have pre-ordered the new BMW R18, as I have watched and watched the marketing videos, and also love the retro cruiser look and feel. I almost bought my first Harley (Deluxe) a month or so ago, but decided to wait for the R18. I will certainly take a refresher course or two. I want to tell you that I find you MC Rider videos amazingly great! They are informative, full of good information, sensible, friendly, and a pleasure to watch and learn. Thank you for all that you do!

Kevin, I know I'm chiming in about 5 months late here, but thanks a lot for your advice to returning riders. I took a 7-year break after selling my Triumph in 2013. I rode for about 10 years, and after a horrible close call, I decided to hang it up. I also have nerve damage in my feet (not bike related), so I get nervous thinking about using dual foot controls. During the pandemic, I got an overwhelming urge to ride again. At 38, my budget is much greater than it was in my 20s. I had all sorts of ideas on what to get, mostly larger bikes than what I had before. Your videos made sense to me, and the last thing I want is to get over-confident. I started looking for small displacement bikes, and I stumbled upon the new Honda ADV150. Yes, it's a scooter. I couldn't believe I was thinking about a scooter, but I ended up getting it. I am very happy with it. My skills are coming back, I don't have to use my feet, and I feel like a better rider than I ever was.

I'm an old guy (82) living in Pennsylvania and sort of "returning." In the mid-1950s I used to rent Vespas and Lambrettas around Naples, Italy. There was no license, no helmet or special clothing, no deposit and no insurance, and especially no instruction; yet it was a breeze (18 year olds are indestructible, of course). Recently I sold my plane of 15 years and bought a Vespa at long last. It was fun right away, but I was somewhat shocked to find that I had very little control at slow speeds. I guess Vespas have changed and so have I. But a lifetime of relying on motor skills and refreshed knowledge keep me humble, and I started looking around for tips and drills. I soon found MCRider and have been drilling the techniques you discuss nearly every day in a church parking lot, and oh so slowly my control and my confidence are building. Just today I actually did two complete figure-8s in the confines of six 10x20 parking spaces. Counter-steering works on scooters too, and I was amazed. Also, tractors, kids and dogs jump out in front of scooters, too. In fact, I echo another's comment--how about a scooter video?

I'm a new rider in Oklahoma, (originally from Toronto Canada) I have not ridden in 40 years. There is no way I would just jump on a motorcycle without proper training and gear. McRider was recommended to me by a coworker, who is a very experienced rider. He is also a proud member of MCRider and we use the great content provided here to brush up skills. I have easily watched 30-40 hours of training and skills video since joining a few weeks ago. Friday mornings are my highlite when new content comes out here. The Northeast CT, NY, NJ, Mass, its like survival riding everyday average speed on heavily congested roads is 20 miles above the posted speed limit. Just to come around a corner to dead stopped traffic. I Like This web site because you need every tool in your arsonal to stay alive while driving with Distracted drivers and a lot of road rage. I'm from Orangeville Ontario. I got my MC license at 16, I'm now 68. At 16 it was the only insurance I could afford. I rode for about 10 years on a variety of bikes the biggest being a 750 Honda. Then at 64 I bought another bike. A HD Ultra classic. I struggled with the weight and being able to handle the bike easily. With persistence and MC Riders advice I began to feel more comfortable but never really felt in control. 2 Years ago I sold the Harley and bought a CanAm spyder. It is certainly not the same as 2 wheels but I'm still riding and loving every minute. Ride safe everyone.

I’m 65 and a returning rider after 30 years. I consider myself a new rider. I bought a bike about a month ago but haven’t ridden it yet because it’s been at the dealership getting some safety enhancements added. I should have it soon, like tomorrow. I live in Arlington, Texas. I discovered MCRIDER while watching other motorcycle coaching videos on KZfaq. I immediately joined and consider MCRIDER to be an absolute godsend. Kevin, your years of experience as a rider and instructor are invaluable. Thanks for what you do. I took the MSF Basic Rider Course recently and did fine. I was a little apprehensive about it as I literally had not ridden a motorcycle in 30 some odd years. My only hiccup in the test was going a little wide on the right U-turn. I felt comfortable and confident on the bike, and the majority of the old feels like the friction zone and throttle control came right back. I bought a Harley Heritage Classic (used), which is probably larger than I should have gotten, but it’s smaller than my dream bike, which is an Electra Glide Classic. From everything I’ve read and heard the Heritage is extremely comfortable and maneuverable, so I think it’ll be ok. I will be doing a LOT of parking lot practice in the coming months. Along with MCRIDER, I have locked on to Ride Like a Pro with Jerry Palodino, and probably my favorite online coaching source, Robert Simmons Paying it Forward. Both of these guys hammer slow speed motorcycle operation and the skills and techniques you have to develop to, as Simmons says, “be the boss of your motorcycle.” Preloading the throttle, staying in the friction zone, and judicious use of the rear break are the techniques to master. I will be going through the exercises in the MCRIDER Field Guide, using cones on a nearby empty park lot to begin my training and practice. Again, I’m very grateful for MCRIDER, Kevin, and all the riders who comment and share their experiences. That’s what it’s all about. Safe riding, all.

In 1974 I moved to Florida when I was 15 years old. At that time with a learners permit you could ride a 100cc motorcycle. I rode mine everyday and everywhere in 50 miles. When I was 16 I got a car and rode motorcycle very little for 40 years. A few years ago I bought a enduro and needed to get the motorcycle endorsement since I never got grandfathered in. The class tought me a lot. About 2 months after the coarse I bought a used Harley Dyna which was a big step. Dropped it once trying to turn around in the yard. Didn’t hurt any thing except my pride, but made me much more aware and careful. Thanks for your videos I watch them all. My son bought a enduro, and his cousin did too. I foreword your videos to them. Thanks again. Jon Helms

Mike from Staten Island NY, I’m 51 and a returning rider after 20 years without a bike. I stumbled upon MCrider 2 years ago and took your advice and enrolled in a new rider course. I have to say that I went into the class with an open mind and I had a great experience. After a lot of research on the right bike for me I decided on a Triumph Street Twin that I just bought in December. As soon as I brought the bike home I enrolled in another new rider class which has been canceled and rescheduled for Late August due to the Coronavirus. Now that the weather is been good (and the roads are empty) I have been practicing in a few of the many empty parking lots in my aria. I have just became a supporter of MCrider a few days ago so i am now able to access the field guide. Thank you Kevin for this wealth of knowledge you have put together. I am grateful.

Yup, that’s me: grew up on dirt bikes, commuted to work for 10 years, pretty much knew everything. Twenty-five years later, got on a 250 dirt bike and struggled to find those ‘master skills’…. So, yeah - lots of humility, started practicing as much as possible, and realising how much more training I need. Good video; honest recommendation.

I'm a member and exactly the rider you talked about in this video. I rode extensively for 10 years then took a 35 year break. I really don't go on the forum and haven't looked at the field guide but I support the work because of an incident that had I not been a student of this channel would have ended in a serious crash. My favorite video is the one that you told about your eye. Character and integrity are neither free or easy and you are cut from the stuff that made this country the best in the world. I am sure you have days you feel nobody cares or you're tired of singing the same song but trust me my friend you are impacting lives for the better and making a difference.

Joe, from Shermans Dale, Pa. I got my 1st bike a '65 Honda 305 Scrambler and rode it until Nam. Returned in '69 and 1st child stopped my riding in 1972. I took my 1st riding course in 1996 before getting back on a bike 1996 Suzuki 800 Intruder and have been learning like many people have said every time I put my leg over my bike. I'm on my 5th Suzuki now and Love it at 71 years young. Oh and since '96 I've taken 3 more AMA courses. Never too old to learn.

My name is Dan Mercer from Sanford Michigan and have found your videos to be very beneficial and have taught me a lot. I’m a fairly new rider. I started out as a teen on dirt bikes and started street riding at 64 and now going on 67. Stared out on a 1996bTriumph Adventurer 900 and practiced a lot of slow parking lot drills. Now I have graduated to a 2003 Yamaha V-Star 1100 and getting a good feel for slow drills in the summer. The more I ride the more I love it. Very safety conscious and we’re my gear on every ride. Thank you for what you do. Take care.

I am a Patreon member for over a year(I think!). I rode a 1980 Honda CB400T Hawk for a few years in my 20’s, and now have been riding a 1984 Honda VF700S Sabre. Love both bikes, and the time in between is literally 35 years. I laid the 400 down with someone on the back due to improper braking and failing to understand the dynamic differences of having an extra person on the bike. When I returned to riding 3 years ago, I had an accident due to simply not hacking a turn in a clover leaf and skidding against the median barrier. Both of these incidents have been covered in the safety videos. Had I viewed them, good chance neither would have occurred. This video training is worth the $5 per month, I consider it cheap insurance. I practice emergency braking, slow speed control, emergency bail outs, etc., as a result of these videos. I want to ride as long as I can, and this program is extremely helpful, and may help to keep me safe and alive!!

Montréal, Canada, at 61 years old. Your lectures and those of other experts would have saved me a lot of aggravation when I started 45 years ago. Back then, there were no courses, everything was self tought. A cheap half helmet was the only safety equipment I wore. Basically, I was clueless and took incredibly stupid risks. New riders, heed Kevin’s advise, you will live longer.

From Tennessee, rode a Honda 70 trail bike at 18 yrs old, but back then you only had to have a regular driver's license. Times have changed, now it's 50cc or less, only a driver's license, but anything above that you have to have a motorcycle license. Decided to get back into riding at 60 yrs old. First thing I did was enroll in the beginners motorcycle class at Harley Davidson. Next thing I did was buy an old Yamaha vino 125cc & we had to work on it to get it back running. I learn new stuff all the time from MCrider and for that I am thankful. I ride my little scooter back and forth to work during the summer/spring. If it wasn't for MCRider I wouldn't have known how to gear up to ride, which really helped taking the BRC. I have practiced braking because of MC Rider. I learn something each time I watch the videos. I am 63 now and a female. I enjoy riding & have a lot of fun w/it. I would say that watching this channel has helped me out w/my riding skills a great deal. (I have to say that the guy giving the beginning rider course would not allow me to ride my scooter there, but that's ok, yet they do allow that for intermediate or advanced rider courses, I don't understand it, because in my mind a bike is a bike no matter what you are riding). Same rules apply, same strategy.

Neville in Orlando, Florida. Started riding for the 1st time at 50. Took the motorcycle course and bought an 1100cc Honda cruiser. Moved up to a Goldwing. At 65, I dropped the bike a couple of times during slow speed turns....'bout broke my heart. Realized the bike was getting a little too heavy for me and looked at downsizing. The Mrs talked me into looking at a trike conversion. Frankly, it took me a while to get over the mental barrier of going from a 2-wheeler to a trike, but I did. Best thing I've done...I still get to ride and once you get used to the lateral g-forces of cornering and the side-to-side riding dynamics of bumpy roads, I feel I've got another ten years of riding ahead of me. Thanks, Kevin, for the great videos.

Returning to riding after a long hiatus do to a fatal crash involving my brother in 1982. We travelled about the country try as young men. At that time we didn't have instructional courses. We started out on small bikes, and worked our way up to larger ones. Problem is, we were never taught correctly, or knew of more safely, efficient ways to ride. Watch MC Rider has helped me break ols self taught habits, replacing them with proper, safer, funner ways to enjoy the ride. Thank you, Mc Rider keep up the good work.

I'm from South Africa. Riding in traffic is a nightmare because of all the minibus taxis. They're a terrible danger on the road who pull in front of you as the quickly change lanes to pick up potential passengers....whether the pedestrian hails the taxi or not. And there're well known for hit and runs. But watching your show every week teaches me something to go try in the parking lot and get proficient at it. Keep it coming. Thanks a lot.

Last summer took an "Adventure riding in the Pine Barens of NJ" 2 day course. Riding on tar is -one way to get there. Riding on the back roads, gravel, sugar sand trees and streams is Gods way. Nice and slow is the way to go.MCRIDER was the first You tube i grabbed off the net. Kevin has a great way to speak and deliver really good info. Good morning folks! I'm from Northern Utah and have had my endorsement since I was 16 so I've been riding the better part of 15 years now. 3 years ago I screwed up and wrecked, destroyed my wrist, not my bike. Thank God for the miracle of modern medicine, 13 screws, a pin, and a Titanium plate I'm back together. MCRider has taught me there is a lot I don't know about what it takes to ride. The field guild has been instrumental in helping me get comfortable riding again. Kevin has also convinced me to take a riding class, I have enrolled for one in June. This channel has helped me so much and I am ever grateful for Kevin and all he is doing here!

I had never heard of counter steering, Not braking in a corner. Taking the course was enlightening. KZfaq did not exist, when I was a riding 30 years ago. KZfaq has been very helpful, for research, and ongoing encouragement and self improvement. MC rider is one of several KZfaq, I return to. For helpful advice.

I had a motorcycle (Suzuki 425) when I was 16, rode it for about 4 years, cold, rain, sleet, or dark of night, I rode that motorcycle. Motorcycle died, didn't get another one. 30 years later (having kept my motorcycle endorsement all those years) I bought a Harley Davidson Heritage. I went and took a motorcycle class, which was a lot of fun, met some real nice folks and was a great refresher. Take what I learn, hit the parking lot to practice my slow maneuvers and emergency stopping. I must also add, that youtube channels like yours and DanDanTheFireman have been wonderful resources and I know without a doubt, have helped me to be a much safer rider.

My first motorcycle was a 1982 Honda V45 Sabre. I gradually learned to ride, first in the neighborhood, later on suburban streets, then highways. Later I took an MSF class. I rode for about 45,000 miles including many long road trips all over the country. I really loved riding, but at some point I was too distracted by work and family and the bike sat in the garage for 30 years. Now that I am retired, I bought a Zero DSR electric motorcycle. It is almost the same size and power as my old 750 cc bike, but has ABS and is very smooth and quiet. I was surprised to find that I am learning to ride from scratch again. I had expected to take up where I left off, just like after not riding all winter. So far I am enjoying going through the learning process again. Even though I am not back to my previous skill level yet after about 1100 miles, I am getting more comfortable with basic skills returning. I have practiced some of the MSF drills in an empty parking lot, and I am at the point that I want to take the MSF class again to improve my skill level.

I'm Cindy from Phoenix, Arizona, where any day is a day to ride, if you don't mind taking your life in your hands. Low life expectancy for riders here. I'm 51, started riding 6 years ago. Currently I ride a 1982 naked Goldwing, single seat, chopped rear bumper, and its my only transportation. I don't even have words for the way riding makes me feel. I could do it forever. 😍 I'm running the GL-1100, and it's the only bike I've never laid down--much due to the tips I've picked up here. More thanks than I know how to give. I'm currently taking care of a former significant other who was in a very serious motorcycle accident the 12th of this past October. He was hit from behind at 80 mph, on the freeway, after dark, by a young lady who had been drinking, who had no license and no insurance. He wasn't wearing a helmet, and was riding his little 250, a Rebel he originally put together for his daughter, that he takes when he doesn't want to get the 1500 K. Drifter out. Results: he survived, which 85% of riders in his situation don't, out here. He has lost the use of his left arm, perhaps permanently, tho not for certain, and had a deep brain contusion (main problem, some cognitive issues, will be a long time healing) and a minor hemorrhage, which they didn't seem too worried about. I'll ride again, tho I'm too busy with him still to do it yet. Every time a motorcycle passes the house, I know what a bird with clipped wings feels like. I don't know if he will ever ride again... Two people's lives were changed, and it only took a second. Thank you for putting safety as such a priority. Glad to have found this site.

Hey Kevin, You are absolutely correct about pride and bravado from “returning riders”... I can say that because I was one a few years back. I had ridden in my 20s, had a scary experience due to my own stupidity, and elected to sell the bike after getting it repaired from the wreck. I didn’t ride again until I turned 59, which was 8 years ago. I live in the beautiful Pacific Northwest now, but I’m from Texas and return to DFW for visits, and the traffic is horrible. (It’s getting worse here in Spokane as well because everyone fleeing the insanity of CA are coming up here and driving aggressively, so having skills on the bike is necessary, but it is just as important to have maturity and focus when riding with traffic. I have learned a tremendous amount from you and support you on Patreon. Thank you for your professionalism and your Christian ethics. My girlfriend is my regular passenger on my BMW R1200RT, and has decided to start riding herself, so I have asked her to visit your videos as often as possible to get a proper start as an introduction while we wait to see if her MSF course is held as scheduled in two weeks. I found a perfect starter bike for her and we are going to use your field guide in the parking lot this weekend to practice. (Suzuki GZ250). Now I need to find some cones! Thanks again! I am now on my sixth motorcycle with a 25 year gap between #4 and #5. #5 and #6 are Goldwings a 1500 followed by a 1800 Motortrike. Hello, my name is Richard I’m 48 and just finished my MSF course here in California. All the MCrider videos give great insight into things to practice and fundamentals we should work on. Unfortunately my first motorcycle isn’t a small one it was left to me after my dad was killed. It’s his 2002 HD Road King. But looking forward to getting it on the road and doing tons of parking lot practice.👍🏽

I (61 going on 62) got seriously back into motorcycling last year when I bought my Royal Enfield Meteor 350 new. The low HP (20.2 to be exact) isn't a threat and the bike offers all the fun & freedom I need…I even did a group tour sponsored by my local RE dealer to Luxemburg last year to see if I and the bike were up to it. It was a bit daunting at first but, in the end, very satisfying and I’m glad I did it. I did over 2500 miles on the Meteor last year and feel really comfortable with it. Nonetheless, I’ll be taking a riding course (cornering, to be precise) this spring to address what I think to be my biggest weakness. I’ve also ordered some mini traffic cones from Amazon and plan to start practicing the skills you show here on the channel in a parking lot I’ve already scouted out for just that purpose. Thanks for the work and life's blood you’ve put into this channel to make us all better riders 👍✌ P.S. I go by the motto: „all the gear, all the time“ 😉

I've been a member of MCrider and found it very useful and informative. I used to ride a small dirt bike as a kid then did not ride for 40 years. I came back and took a new rider course over 3 weekends with lots of parking lot drills then a skills test to get motorcycle endorsement then a week end of road riding with my class and instructor. That was definitely the way to go, boy was I rusty... and dirt is way different to street riding. I have been riding for 4 years now since my course loving every minute!!!

I took the beginning rider course again after a 20 year break. I knew there would be new information and it would be a chance to build new skills, and I am glad I did, I needed the ‘startup period’ desperately. After a few thousand miles I took the Total Control Intermediate Rider Course, which gave me confidence in corners. My first riding experience was mostly straight roads and streets, my return has been filled with group rides and a lot of twisties a different world, but so enjoyable!

Joined two years ago and can't be more impressed with what I have learned from Kevin and the many amazing people on the fora. I use the guide to practice in a parking lot near my home at least every other week and I can handle my new Kawasaki Versys almost as well as the small dual sport I bought after heeding Kevin's advice. I'm 59 and hadn't ridden since I was in Air Force pilot training in 1984. Bought the Yamaha XT250 two years ago and immediately took the MSF course. I lot had changed in those 30+ years and I've slowed down just a bit. I spent a year riding the little bike every weekend and whenever I could sneak out... almost 5000 miles in a year which I was pretty happy with. I got super comfortable on it and then a few months back sold it to a friend and got my Versys - which I really enjoy. So - I am a better and safer rider thanks to Kevin and his tools - especially the forum. I practice regularly and am proud to say that while I have scared myself a few times on my bikes I have not yet had an accident or hurt myself. I'm proud of that and not sure it would have happened if I recklessly jumped on a Versys two years ago. Retraining myself and developing new skills has been fun and has kept me safe. Thanks Kevin - I appreciate all you do and I especially have enjoyed your stories of faith over the last couple years. God clearly has you doing exactly what you are supposed to be doing for him!
