Ms. Anita; thank you for sharing a private event in your life. God is good, I decided to click on your video right before I leave for Church. Thank you for your words, I shared your words with my daughter who is going thru exams in college and stressing out. As you said God is of Purpose not of consequence. I also wanted to share that I just picked up my brand new ever Babylock Presto II. I love it! Stay in the Faith and continue to surrender to God so he can provide your rest & healing all in Jesus Name.

This pattern is very close to the Julia dress by LuLaRoe. By sewing your own, you can get the fit, and determine the sleeve length. Great job, Miss Anita! You are inspiring many women to sewing their own garment!

I had to widen my hip width on the pattern my top was one size and the bottom was another. I used a French curve ruler to make the hip adjustment and made it bigger on purpose. Then altered using the by serging off the center back seam until it fit. (I opted not to use the slit). My first one was too tight and my second was just right after adjustment.

Hi there. I can't do that for you. The best way to learn is by going onto the pattern websites and looking through their dress sections. The only way to familiarize yourself with the patterns is by doing the work yourself. You'll soon come to really enjoy it.

Anita, my neckline turned out wavy and don’t know how to correct this. I’m using the correct 4 way stretch knit and the stretch stitch on my Bernina 790. Please, any recommendations? Otherwise the dress is just lovely! I made it in the 3/4 sleeve version and now I am going to make it in the shorter sleeve version and follow your technique of 5/8” hemline. GREAT tutorial! Oh and I had difficulty sewing the longer sleeve hemline. It didn’t fit around the arm of either of my machines so that stitching is not in a straight line. Should I just hand stitch it? Thank you Anita! Please keep these tutorials coming! Fun, educational and the BEST stress reliever!
@AnitabyDesign
@AnitabyDesign 2 жыл бұрын
Hi Rita! It's probably best to remove the neckline and re-do it if you didn't trim away the seam allowance. Some things to check when you attach it the next time: 1. If you have a walking foot for your machine, use it. It helps to eliminate stretching when sewing with knit. 2. Check the tension on your presser foot. You may need to release the tension if it's too tight for your fabric. 3. Try a different stitch. Depending on the type of fabric you're using, sometimes the stretch stitch isn't the best choice. There's a lot of movement happening with that stitch which could stretch the fabric. Try a narrow zig zag stitch. Set the stitch width to 0.5mm and the stitch length to 2.5mm. 4. You may need to cut a smaller neckband. If the neckband is the same size or larger than the opening on the neckline, it will be wavy. It needs to be where you have to stretch it to fit the neckline while sewing. I hope that helps, Rita.

I have this pattern in size L through XXL and the shoulder seams fit together exactly like yours, but there are notches on the front and back of those shoulder seams that don't align at all -- nearly an inch apart along the edge of the seam allowance. It almost looks like a spot that would require easing, but I don't see it mentioned anywhere on the pattern or the instructions and it feels like it would cause a LOT of bunching for no reason if I tried to do so. Do you have any advice on that part? Is it just some weird oversight when they increase the pattern size, do you think?
@AnitabyDesign

Hi Nick! I would just ignore it. Sometimes the pattern companies make mistakes. As long as the shoulders are lining up on front and back your good.

@AnitabyDesign
@AnitabyDesign 3 жыл бұрын
Yes, but make sure you use knit bias tape because it needs to have stretch to fit over your head. Sew it at 1/4" to the neckline with the right sides facing. Press it to the inside, making sure to keep the other edge folded. Fold rest of tape over raw edge and stitching in place using stitch in the ditch or hand sew. I hope this helps.

Hello Anita. Can you use the walking foot on all types of fabric while sewing?
@AnitabyDesign
@AnitabyDesign 7 жыл бұрын
Hi Annie! I don't see a reason why you can't use the walking foot on any type of fabric. I've only used it for knits and when sewing through thick layers of fabric. I would imagine there isn't enough pressure with the walking foot to sew sheers, but I could be wrong. That's a great question. You could always test it on different fabrics and see how it performs. Now that you've asked, I think I will test it too.

@AnitabyDesign
@AnitabyDesign 7 жыл бұрын
Hi Takeisha! Awesome deal on the pattern! Yes, you can use the same pieces for your lining. Construct the lining the same as the main fabric. Instead of hemming the neckline, attach the lining to the dress at the neckline. Turn the lining to the inside and hem it shorter than the dress. I hope this helps.
