Me gusta que has hablado del Vos. Soy Nicaragüense, y nosotros usamos el Vos. Thanks so much for explaining how to conjugate with Vos. Since I have done it a lifetime, it is so easy for me.

They use el voseo in Nicaragua, too. My husband & his family use it all the time.

E.g. No cerrés. No escribás.

Great video, clear explanation and examples! (I love that film by the way!) I’ve been living in Argentina for almost 11 months now and learning Spanish for about a year, I’m pretty high intermediate now. However I’ve never really been sure about the usage of Voseo and I’ve generally avoided it, preferring to utilising my more standard, neutral kind of Mexican Spanish. But I’ve kind of fallen in love with the style here and feel like I should start using voseo. Thanks for the breakdown! P.S. It’s also used (in a different way) in the Zulia state of Venezuela I believe

might as well learn to use it if you're in Argentina! I like the way they speak too. You can always adapt back to tú later on if you need to. Thanks for your comment, glad you liked the video!

As a person living in a country where voseo it's used, this video is, without a doubt, the best explanation on the basis of voseo, good work, bro!

Very useful thank you Connor. Is there any difference in form between the affirmative and negative imperative like there is with ‘tú’?
@BreakthroughSpanish
@BreakthroughSpanish Жыл бұрын
it'll sound the same as the tú form in the negative imperative - "no hagas eso (vos)"; "no me hables así", etc.

I really like the simplicity of voseo but do you think that Spanish speakers that don’t use voseo will understand it? Do you use this form of Spanish?
@BreakthroughSpanish
@BreakthroughSpanish Жыл бұрын
Definitely! BUT there’s no need to use it unless you’re in a country where it’s common. The title isn’t meant to suggest that you should use it out of convenience- more that, if you need it, it won’t be too hard to learn. I don’t use it personally these days, although I have used it in the past when visiting places where it’s used

I'm a high school art teacher who likes to travel. When I was in Costa Rica a heard the vos form used a lot, but people understood me using the tú form with no issues. On the other hand when I returned to Arizona and tried out the vos form on one of the Spanish teachers at my school, she corrected me, assuming I was mis-using the Castilian vosotros. Although originally from Mexico, she had no idea that the vos form even existed and wasn't about to have a bi-lingual gringo explain it to her! So I just apologized for my ignorance and let it go. Interesting fact: if you ever watch the TV series Pablo Escobar, Patrón del Mal, you will hear the voseo used a lot.

We do, as said normally at least 1 region may use it and we are used to hearing it even if we do not use it.
