Hello and welcome to my Blender VFX course. My name is Jacob and I'm a Visual Effects Artist based out of the United States. I currently work full time as a Visual Effects generalist and Nuke compositor in the film and advertising industry having worked with clients such as Nvidia and L'Oréal throughout my career. I have experience across multiple different mediums from music videos all the way to feature films and have grown an online community of artist across the world in learning Visual Effects using Blender.

In this course I wanted to focus on using Blender as a tool for 3D Visual Effects so we can create captivating worlds and bring them to the big screen. We will start by learning all of Blender's tools and basics, then we will dive into the exciting world of camera tracking to where you'll be able to track any footage you want, Next we'll go over compositing in Blender and some of the amazing tools to make your renders stand out, and then finally we'll create a huge 3D scene from scratch and take you through the entire process of creating professional looking Visual Effects all inside of Blender. We will be covering 5 indiviual complete VFX shots with a ton more examples showcasing a multitude of different scenarios you might encounter. Of course all of the assets and footage I use will be provided for you to follow along.

Do you also cover EXR passes? Would be great to have a proper view on it regarding colors also. I use the EXR on After Effects, and it's hard to maintain the look from both softwares

Unfortunately I cannot cover that shot because I don’t own the rights to giving out the footage and there are a ton of paid assets and addons I used to make it. Don’t worry I have learned a ton from making this course so will definitely have some more exciting stuff coming up

I might buy this. But I’m curious about the shot from your reel where the guy is standing on the railroad tracks with the sun in the background. It looks like a VR game I play, what is that from?

It’s a vfx shot I completed purely for my demo reel and was inspired to make an into the radius style of shot with that railroad footage. Just so you know we don’t go over that in the course but it’s just there to show you what’s possible

So out of curiosity. What's the additional content you provide in your course compared to your yt channel. Aren't you doing just that in your KZfaq videos?

Good question! The biggest difference is pace of teaching and learning. In the course I go over literally every single concept as it comes up whereas here on KZfaq it’s more specialized and quick paced. It’s targeted towards the absolute beginner which means I slowly build up all of the skills to achieve some amazing visual effects so no experience is required. Here on KZfaq I expect people already have some knowledge and can apply my teachings to their own content. Finally, I try to keep KZfaq tutorials shorter to go over quick and easy concepts throughout the channel and the courses will be longer form content that will lead to faster learning than my channel for those that want

That’s exciting to hear! Also of course I’ll be able to answer any specific questions and help out whatever way I can! I actually encourage my students to use their own footage because it’ll make the information stick more as you have to take an extra step in learning.

Hi I could from a film school background however I would say most of my learning came for being self taught and following online resources. That’s actually why I developed this course because it condenses a lot of my early learning over the course of years into a small 4 hour course. It’s something I really wish was around when I started learning so I highly recommend you check it out and let me know what you think!

No unfortunately just blender for this course. I do jump into nuke a little at the end to show what’s possible as I talk about next steps after the course but I don’t teach in it. This is just my first course so maybe in the future I’ll include nuke in my teachings

But it's a pity that there will be no parsing of that passage with cars, and rear view mirror, or dancing girl) hopefully after studying this course, I will have enough information to recreate those scenes that are shown in the trailer of your course, my friend.

@@Jacob_Zirkle like you can use background image or movie for the camera, but when render it's disappear, and now i want to render the background of the camera

@@com.zootub.HuyAC.1 the background image of the camera is just for preview. You have to go into the compositing tab to composite the CGI on top of your video. We actually discuss and go over that in this course. If you’re wanting to grow with VFX in Blender as fast as possible, there’s no better way in my opinion. I’m self taught and would’ve killed for a course like this which is exactly why I made it, to help beginners learn vfx as fast as possible

Hello! Yeah the artist tier does have access to 1 on 1 sessions. I will say however these sessions are more discussion based and getting feedback rather than me simply just teaching you. With my other artist tier members, basically the 1 on 1 sessions are more about specific topics and help there as you need, or troubleshooting / looking over your work. Not weekly meetings where we go over a topic and I teach you everything. I’ll expect you’ll have an idea of the topic already and I won’t be able to take you step by step. Hopefully that helps your decision and I’d love to have the chance to meet if you do decide.

That’s Udemy. Basically they have algorithms that alters price based on a variety of factors. If you want I offer the course on my Gumroad for cheaper so go check there! Hopefully that makes sense and unfortunately there’s nothing I can do about it
