Everything is fine until it’s time to render. The rendering result doesn’t show the background footage. I wanted to move on with just rendering the object but then the plane for the geo tracking is showing in the render result. Any tips for either exporting properly or just moving on with the rendered object?

Yeah, sorry unfortunately, after I release this video, the author of the footage took it down from their website. You should still be able to follow along with any similar camera tracking with vertical footage though.

@Jacob_Zirkle2 күн бұрын
You could always try camera tracking the traditional method inside of blender, but for this scene, I ran into a lot of trouble trying to get a camera solved. You could also try to add the camera movement in compositing. But hope that helps.

@@Rus_Sershant21 honestly you can learn the basics of nuke pretty fast, but really I always recommend my students to always do their own work and it's all about repetition and just doing a ton of shots to really learn the program whether it be nuke or any other visual effects program

Great tutorial I enjoyed the ideas and techniques - the geotraker plugin looks great but yet another £18 amonth subscription on top of all the others we have these days - next best alternative will be blender internal tracker which takes some learning but worth investing the time
@Jacob_Zirkle2 күн бұрын
Yeah, usually, I would just do it with the traditional blender camera tracker however for some reason in this shot, I was having a lot of trouble because there was very little parallax. If I'm being honest, I use the Geo tracker add-on enough that it's worth the price for me, however I totally understand if others are not willing to pay it, it's actually really cheap compared to other alternatives and so that's what I use for my workflow. Hope that helps.

How do you deal with Lens Distortion in this?
@Jacob_Zirkle4 күн бұрын
Most of the times I don't need a big lens distortion workflow since it's only for social media and the distortion is most noticable usually on areas of the screen where there isn't vfx for vertical footage. The workflow on other shots however would be to add some nodes to blender compositing and render it out baked. Unfortunately I don't know of any non destructive ways to introduce lens distortion super accurately in compositing besides just adding a lens distortion node in compositing and eyeballing it. Hopefully blender adds a function like that in the future to communicate to other programs

The second half gives a good impression of invisible but valuable VFX. You don't realize, how necessary that work was, until you see how it looked before.
@Jacob_Zirkle2 күн бұрын
That's what I tell all aspiring visual effects artist. Everybody wants to make the glamorous and super high budget looking visual effects, but if you're looking to get into visual effects, people are going to be looking for hidden visual effects, talents like cleanup, and wire removal as well. it might not be as cool looking, but it's what many companies are looking for for beginner level artist

Very good, in-depth tutorial! I have a question: the castle scene at the end - was that all done in Blender or post was done in a video editor/compositor?
@Jacob_Zirkle2 күн бұрын
So for that shot, I actually used nuke to do my camera tracking, and then I use Cinema 4D to do the CGI. Traditionally I would've used blender for that project, but I was under certain obligations to only use Cinema 4D. After that, I took the CGI into nuke from my compositing and then sent it over to my color to do color and Vinci resolve for the final look. Hope that helps.
