We use these in writing, but not often in formal writing. You can say something like this in formal writing: Studying abroad is a dream of many people, and I am not an exception / and it is a dream of mine, too / and it is a dream of mine as well.

I loved the topic and your explanations, I have two questions, which of these expressions is more suitable in this context, "your video is very enriching" or "your video is very fulfilling". My second question is, the other day I saw a bus with a sing in the front that says " transportation for personal”, or “personal transportation”, and I thought this is wrong because it looked to me as if it was a literally translation from French which is "transport du personnel" because here in Algeria we use French a lot. Here most public companies have buses that bring the company staff from home to work and from work to home it’s like school buses, does this exist in the US, if it does what these buses are called, thank you.
@LearnAcademicEnglish
@LearnAcademicEnglish 3 жыл бұрын
1. I probably wouldn't use either of these words to describe a video, but if I had to choose one, I would definitely choose "enriching." "Fulfilling" is usually used for something that we have in our lives for a long time, like a job or a relationship. 2. Sounds like the word should be "personnel" in English, not "personal," and on a bus I'd expect that to say "personnel transit" or "personnel transportation" but we don't have that type of bus here, so I'm not sure! Maybe "staff transit."

Nither is a model verb. Either meaning ( one in two ) for example Either kamal or jamal go to school. I don't play cricket. Me nither. I don't like football. Me nither / I don't either.

Hi Sam! You are correct (good sentences!) except that neither is not a modal verb. In the answer "Me neither," it is a conjunction. You can see more here in the Merriam Webster's definition: learnersdictionary.com/definition/neither

"ME EITHER" IS THE ONLY CORRECT VERSION. "Me neither" contains (Neither) which is the second negative to an already negative statement you are agreeing with, which is impossible under the rules of sound English grammar. Perhaps this piece of logic will convince the "Me Neither" heretics. Me too = I (do) too. Me EITHER = I (don't) either. Me Neither = I (don't) neither = grammatical heresy. Even if we supposed that Me Neither = I (do) neither. "I do Neither" is grammatically correct, but alas, the meaning has nothing to do with agreeing with a statement: Do you smoke or drink? I do neither...Nothing to do with "Me Neither". This man does not like cats, and that one...EITHER, and ME EITHER. THE ONLY CORRECT VERSION IS ME EITHER.
@LearnAcademicEnglish
@LearnAcademicEnglish 3 жыл бұрын
I am happy to be corrected because we all make mistakes, but in this case, I respectfully disagree. I would appreciate it if you would add your comments respectfully. Coming off as a grammar snob only turns people off. I have a master's degree in linguistics, so when it comes to grammar, I usually know what I'm talking about. This person seems to know what he's talking about, too: brians.wsu.edu/2016/05/24/me-either/
@mitcherny6965
@mitcherny6965 3 жыл бұрын
@@LearnAcademicEnglish Are you sure? My experience has been that degrees don't make one immune to making or repeating illogical STUBBORN mistakes, having bad spelling, all simply because "everyone else does it". The number of "educated people" who say "in regardS to" and "eXcetera" is beyond belief. grammarbook.com/blog/pronouns/me-either-vs-me-neither-which-is-better/ and www.ldoceonline.com/dictionary/me-either
@LearnAcademicEnglish
@LearnAcademicEnglish 3 жыл бұрын
Sure, educated people make mistakes all the time, especially in speaking. My point was that this is not a good place to come and shout your corrections with words like "heresy." Give me a break. However, polite discussion is welcome! If we want to discuss the topic based on prescriptive grammar, it seems that both "me neither" and "me either" are ungrammatical, and the sources I've read say the same (why the use of the object pronoun?). Putting the use of "me" aside, it could be argued that either would be possible because they are both reduced forms, and the correct form would depend on what is being left out (the auxiliary only or the negative as well?). Anyway, because it's colloquial English, and I'm not interested in being the grammar police, I don't really care. Your example from the dictionary only shows that "me either" is used, not that it's correct. There is a similar entry for "me neither": www.ldoceonline.com/dictionary/me-neither
@mitcherny6965
@mitcherny6965 3 жыл бұрын
@@LearnAcademicEnglish OK. Here is your last chance to prove it to yourself that your degree is more than just a piece of paper. See if you have a problem with any of these sentences, besides the ugly fact that "Me" is often used to mean "I" nowadays. 1. This man does not drink wine, and that one...either, and me either (not "neither"). 2. He does not like 3 out of 5 projects, and I/me...any of them (not "none of them"). 3. If "neither do I" = "me neither", then "so do I" = "me so"...complete and utter rubbish. If none of the above appeals to your common sense and logic, then I feel sorry for you and have nothing more to say.
