HEY YOU ABOUT TO POST SOMETHING STUPID:
Yes, I know my hands are large/fat. It's because of a heart condition I suffer from called Congestive Heart Failure. Here's a link to some information about CHF: cle.clinic/2TdS2Ux
One of the symptoms is that is causes fluid retention, mostly in the hands, feet/ankles, and face.
It will kill me one day. I'm doing ok right now, but someday...

I use DipTrace exclusively. I think it is excellent. I’ve designed and built a through-hole TTL retro clock using the schematic builder, created a 4 layer board and had it built by a competitor’s board house in China, which I like a lot. I’m very satisfied with DipTrace. The learning curve was steep, but not overwhelming and there was a couple of gotya’s, but over all, I’m really happy with it. I even created a couple of components for the board. I hope these videos continue, it’s a great teaching tool for those who want to create circuits and put them on finished boards. It is unbelievably satisfying to watch your circuit work on a board you created. Once you get rolling and get used to it, DipTrace is really great. Thanks, Paul, for the great video!! Hope you continue to feel better and nice to see you back in the saddle!! 👍👍

Takes me back, used to use diptrace at college then moved to Eagle when I started seriously making my own boards. I have recently started learning kicad as I have not been happy since Eagle changed their licensing.

Only draw a few PCBs using express PCB , etching using manual stuff. This is a good for a reminder / startup in the realms of PCB. Nowadays using kicad for schematic.

This brought back memories from my power logger PCB. That took more time than the code. This is not easy but you learn by playing around with it for a while. Track width and via diameter references can be found on the internet. Happy PCB making!

Libraries are kind of key when you get in to layout. Sparkfun from the Eagle version is worth having. The 3D view is more of a gimmick when comes to looking at silkscreen. I generate gerbers and view in gerber tools to get a more accurate view. I like Diptrace even the free version (300 pins)

Hi I enjoy your diptrace clip, I am interested in doing what you did in your video, I have the software, but when I open the schematic window, yours have a black workspace while mines shows white, and I dont see the properties, device manager, on the right column, can you tell me why I dont see that black window, or what can I do to get it back.

What Icon are you using to move the Lines as required ? Having issues following what your doing on the Tool Bar what your using ? At what point did you allocate or pick the Thru Hole size or was that Automatic ? I'm more then slow between the ears on this.

When I click on 3D, none of the components are on the board. I checked to make sure all components had the footprint and they do, actually I followed along with you and used all the same components as you did. Any idea of why the components are not showing up on the 3D board? Thanks!

Some just dont have the 3d components. You have to find and download them or make them your self. Download and install the digikey libraries if you haven't done that yet.

HaHAHa, PO Dave Jones, that is funny! We all know that he hates black PCB's.... Nice video... I like the black magic comment, it is that for sure... I started with design spark and some others. Then I started using Fritzing and have stuck with it. I am a Linux user mostly now and Fritzing is crossed platform to Windows so it was a good fit at the time and now Windows is gone from the house forever....
