Nice vid fella. Was in Kileder beginning of September last year but didn't have bikes - weather was stunning and now regret leaving them behind... ah well, Scotland next year... 🚲

Used to sail on keilder reservoir as a teenager and spent a lot of time up there in the early/mid 90s. I remember while camping near the village and castle we would often go up to the top of deadwater fell where the radar tower is located Riding down on my old Raleigh Mustang fully ridgid bikecwas pretty hairy. I believe this is the upper section of the black trail these days called Skellys Riggin. Hope to head up and ride it sometime. Was planning on going tomorrow but hitting the moors near derwent reservoir/ Blanchland instead. Have you ridden from the top of deadwater?

Awesome, good work on a fully rigid. I didn’t go up to the top unfortunately. I am really gutted that I didn’t. At the time I was riding on my own in the wet with no phone signal, so I made the choice not to ride the black just incase. Wish I had though.

@@bikeandbeyond Sensible choice you made. From what I remember its a pretty remote area and if the worst happens you could go un noticed for a long time. You visited chopwell recently? Was there 2 weeks ago riding off piste and power line. Noticed there has been some maintenance carried out on the upper section. Got footage of the newly repaired bits on my latest video.

@@bikeandbeyond Good effort on those rock garden climbs in the wet! I did a post Ard Rock road-trip this year & rode the black section. You didn't miss much. It's a fire-road grind up to the top by the radar station & then double track down. Certainly not a black trail. Annoying they hadn't reopened the other black section off Dead Water Fell or the Lonesome Pine trail, especially when there was no mention of the closures on their website. Newcastleton just over the border had several sections still closed as well.

Hi I really like your realistic yet positive way of presenting. I also have a question about the Cube stereo 150. I have a really hard time deciding if I should go for a 120 (29), 140 (27.5)or 150 (29). I live in an area where there are also some 15-20% uphill parts sometimes even during s few kilometers. If this was your only bike would you still have chosen the stereo 150?

Hi, thanks 👍🏻 The Cube Stereo is an amazing bike. I really don’t know why you don’t see more of them on the trails. I really like the 29 wheels (but that is a personal preference really). If I only had one bike I would probably go for 120 or 140. The 160 is amazing on the downhills but it is a bit sluggish on the uphills (but peddles way better than I thought it would on the uphills). Technical uphills like the rock gardens in this video can be a challenge.

@@bikeandbeyond I agree. I live in France and you don't see a lot of cube here either, but the price quality ratio is just unbeatable IMO. I think I'll go for the 140 thank you for your feedback..
