Man, the more Drumeo videos I watch with Chad and Brandon, the more I love their little bromance. People always say don't meet your icons, but I think Chad is one of those very rare exceptions where your icon totally meets and even surpasses all your expectations. Such a cool and fun guy to be around and learn from. Brandon is living the dream, and I'm slightly jealous haha
@KatFish682

You’re envious, not jealous. Envy means you are happy for Brandon & wish you could be in his very lucky shoes while jealousy implies that you want it for yourself & have enmity towards Brandon for his having such an awesome experience. I used to use say jealousy all the time until someone pointed out the error to me too. I’m with you 100% on enjoying watching this bromance with Brandon & Chad!😻 What a joy to watch & I’m not even a drummer! LOL! Extremely well done, Brandon! What a good production this video is. The storyline is very strong, it shows how even for a 'simple' song there is an ocean of nuance in its performance, how much the details and the vibe (so hard to capture both) matter to the original musician that wrote the part and finally you beautifully display the exchange of so much more through this learning than just drum stuff, it's so human. Some of the best stuff online right now. Give this crew a raise!

You WILL get it though after Chad's instruction and a little practice! I have no idea how you could play at all in front of a legendary drummer, you are awesome! Chad Smith is a hard act to follow with his swing and feel, and that is the exact reason so many people love him and his style of drumming!! The story Chad tells of Neil asking him after his performance at the tribute was hilarious, I think Chad said Neil asked him if he could play any harder or something along those lines, haha!! This video was so awesome to watch for so many reasons. Firstly, Chad is so kind and hilarious while also being a master at his craft. I love that Brandon wanted to stay to true to the original but did what felt right for him in the end. You were so much more relaxed at his house and it felt more like a jam session than a strict lesson. I’m lovingly jealous of all the portraits on the wall, especially the one of Bonzo’s face right in front, such a rare candid. I cried at the mention of you playing with Taylor’s sticks because who wouldn’t. So much love and respect for Brandon and Chad, just two reasons why drummers will always have my heart 🫶🏼🥁

Genuinely so much good stuff in this video. Thanks to you all for doing this, good work to Brandon, and good on Chad Smith for participating so amicably. Feel good video for me to watch on my way to bed.

I played this on drums at my high school's end of year music show back in '08. Some of the most fun I've had behind the kit

Worked hard to learn this song and the album back when it came out. HUGE influence on my drumming (no blame for my mediocrity LOL). Can't wait to see this and laugh at my mistakes! BOTH you guys rock, and your contribution to the drum community just keeps growing. 'Those who can do, those who can't...' is a load of BS, as we all know. Those who can and then give back by teaching... mentors to millions, man. Eternal gratitude and mega respect.

So awesome! Brandon and Chad have such great chemistry and the final version sounded soooooo good!! I love how Chad mentioned it wasn't the hardest song in the world... looks pretty hard to me!! Haha luckily I'm a bass player and we have it a lot easier playing this one. Thanks so much for the awesome content ❤❤❤

That must have been surreal to play Chad Smith's drum kit in his own house and playing one of his band's songs in front of him. One of those ethereal experiences you read about.

There's so much to love about this video! Chad Smith always comes off as such a down-to-earth guy with a great sense of humor (must be some of that Will Ferrell influence 🙂). I just love how he explains his writing process of certain drum parts (e.g., trying to match Frusciante's AC/DC vibe on certain parts), and even acknowledging that his approach to playing the song live has evolved over the years and may not match the original recorded version. Finally, he's able to explain many of his parts like a masterful teacher. But Bro, how could you forget the drum faces? 🙂

Dude for such a good drummer in yourself I honestly cannot believe how good chad is, he just sounds on another level even tho it's not that complicated. That is impressive.
