Many artists practice the destruction and reconstruction process. Pastelist Avon Waters demonstrates how he uses it to remake old paintings into new using wet pastel techniques. Avon demonstrates how-to use alcohol and pastel, as well as clear gesso and alcohol to destroy and old painting and use parts of what is left behind to make something completely new. Other videos later will review this process and no be as complete of a destruction of art as this, but more like the sample he shows of the before and after of a previous painting called Last Snow Patch. Destroying art can lead to better art and builds the artist's confidence.
