What are the reasons to move to London? Never mind the naysayers, London is great and I will vote the city a million times as the best place to live in in the world. But some people can go to any length to give you flimsy reasons not to move to London. Others will even advise you not to visit London at all. However, I can give you more than enough reasons to move to London and that’s what I’m about to do in this video.
Among what they would point to are high cost of living, traffic congestion, accommodation cost, weather, and lets I forget, the fast pace of life, to discourage you from moving to London. Some even say London is dirty and polluted as if they're turning a blind eye to the fact that those are inherent characteristics of any prosperous city.
Acting on those reasons is tantamount to shutting oneself out of opportunities available to those living in London. Don’t be discouraged, you’re invited to first visit this world’s leading commercial, financial, and cultural center where many international job seekers, merchants, and students go every year.
Now, let me show you 10 reasons to move to London.
1. Multicultural city
This, to many, is the first reason to move to London. If you’re looking for a city that can be truly described as a melting pot of cultures, move to London to feed your eyes and enrich your mind. The capital city of the United Kingdom is the most culturally diverse city I have seen. Oh my, let me say, one of them.
Did you know that over 300 different languages are being spoken in London? Another interesting fact is that one-third of the residents of London were born overseas. Now, what do you think of the physical and intellectual composition of a city like that? You can expect nothing but an interesting variety of people of different exposures and backgrounds. What about authentic cuisines food from all over the world that you’ll get to savor? I’ll tell you a little more about that later.
2. So much to do
Another reason to go to London is that you will never ever run out of things to do because there is so much to do in the city. This is always the situation regardless of the time of year. Yes, summer can be great. But it doesn’t have to be during summer before you find your hands full with a lot of interesting activities.
Be it night or day, there is always something fun to see and do! Talk about those world-acclaimed attractions, the Big Ben, the world-class craftsmanship displays such as the Tate Modern, spots such as Cat Cafés, and a lot more. There’s simply something for everybody regardless of your interest and choice.
3. Higher wages compared to the rest of the UK
Do not scare us with this; I said it earlier; the cost of living is expensive in London. It’s no secret; living in London, the capital of Great Britain is expensive. So what? If London is maligned as one of the most expensive cities, it’s because for the benefit of those making money there.
The true situation is that in most cases, salaries in London are usually more than enough to cover those extra living expenses. If you have to pay higher in London for the service of a mechanical engineer, for instance, how would you feel if you were a mechanical engineer living where the same service is priced lower? Won’t that give you a reason to move to London? Moving to London simply makes economic sense if you have the skill to be priced.

I absolutely love living in this city. Of course, there are some things you need to get used to, especially if you're like me and moving over from America! Much smaller apartments, and excellent transport, plus gorgeous parks and things to do almost every day.

Let's sum it up for those who haven't lived in London and have no idea about the NHS. It's not free my dear narrator we pay from our taxes, money don't grow on trees you know. Don't expect to book an appointment with the doctor. Your appointment will be after almost a month and then you will still not see the doctor instead you will meet with something like a chief nurse . If you meet your doctor let's say for a wisdom tooth extraction the doctors have just 15 minutes with you 20 max after that you get out literally! So the NHS sucks, healthcare in Greece I'd never expected to say this, but it's waay better! Other than that London is amazing for the high wages, the limitless options, the great architecture, beautiful parks and we have to give it to the people because I've never met more tolerant people than the English!

When he says “free” he means “free at point of payment”. I don’t think anyone believe the NHS comes from free money. That’s what taxes are for lmao. Also, do you really think that is bad? I have to pay $300 a month in the US just to ACCESS healthcare for myself (dental and vision are not included). I booked my dentist appointment and had to wait 3 weeks to get booked in and only saw the actual dentist for maybe 5 minutes. They unnecessarily tried to tell me I needed root canals costing more than $5000. So again, relatively, you might want to think about the privileges you have with NHS.

@@SugoiTravelReviews I live in Greece where we have only social health system and I have to pay 250€ every month for it(so much for free healthcare plus through taxes and everything) and the rest of the salary is €500. You book an appointment with a doctor you maybe see that doctor after one and a half or two months(if you want to see them sooner you have to pay extra 60€ per appointment) and if you need surgery you need to pay some extra grants so no, free healthcare is anything but free , the difference is you have no other option and the services suck ,I beg one day the private health sector opens up here in Greece too at least I will have the option where to give those $250 myself instead of taking them straight from my bank account without me having a say whatsoever even if I'll never use the healthcare system myself

@@jamestidmarsh4913 exactly 💯 I'm foreigner, living in London since Jan 2015. I'm leaving the city soon. Beautiful city, phenomenal architecture, rich history but lost its charm and friendliness and one of the problems is British people are minority already. For 8 years I had an issue with only one British guy, we had altercation on the street and after everything was over he came to me to return my headphones who I dropped. Issues with other immigrants and foreigners - I can't count them.

From those 10 reasons, only 2, it's actually 1 that is true - the public transport is the best in the world. The rest - it's not safe, it's multicultural - diversity and multiculturalism is a uprising issue, there is a pressure between various communities, you have to comply with other people differences. Which would make you tired and upset and you would start arguing often. Business? Yes, on theory yes, on practice absolutely different, so many different requirements and documents to obtain. And on and on and on. Higher salaries? Yeah, 10% to 20% higher compared to rest of the country with 50% higher expenses on them. And exactly the diversity and multiculturalism is the reason for the lower salaries in most industries, again, wondering why - because when James asks for £17 per hour for certain job there is Vasile from Romania or Ivan from Bulgaria to do it for £13. Or Rajesh and his cousin Prandeep from India would do it £10. In some industries such as hospitality and catering the salaries are basically identical with little towns. But if you earn £1500 a month after taxes in Starbucks your room in Zone 3 or 4 is going to be £700 and for that money you can rent whole flat somewhere else. Expensive transport too, dangerous roads for cycling, also ULEZ and Congestion charge for cars. Expensive and limited car parks, expensive insurances etc etc I forgot to mention the paying term National minimum Wage and... London Living Wage. Most employers are paying National Living Wage in London.

Cheaper than owning a car, people in London who only use public transportation spend less than the average car maintenance cost in the UK. There's statistics to back it up.
@SugoiTravelReviews
@SugoiTravelReviews 2 жыл бұрын
Think about it…what’s the alternative? Owning a car is WILDLY more expensive. You have to pay for: monthly car payment, insurance, gas, inspection, registration, congestion tax, parking fees, and so many more costs. That doesn’t include any damages or emergency situations. I’d say the tube is significantly cost-effective compared to a car (or really any motor vehicle) in a crowded city.

So? It's free to call an ambulance. America's system puts their life expectancy 2 years below the UK, and below almost every other developed country. From a purely economics perspective, America spends more on health care per capita, than any other country. Sounds like a failed system to me.
@SugoiTravelReviews

He means “free at point of sale”, not that the NHS is actually free any comes from nowhere lmao. But yes you pay high taxes to cover this. Just keep in mind, in the UK, I think you spend less than 30% of income to taxes. In the US, we effectively spend almost 40% of our incomes when we include healthcare costs. So…be grateful. (I’ve also had many friends go bankrupt because of medical expenses, mostly due to cancer).
