Great video!. Not a fan of buying a box for near $200 then having to pay a bill forever to use the software that goes along with it. I'd rather pay more upfront like you mentioned.

Been programming smaller shows for my streams with EMU using midi program changes to change scenes/banks and has been working well! Still noticing some bugs here and there but overall it's been reliable.

I got my DMX USB Pro a few months back, and I still have yet figured out how to program EMU (honestly any program that’s user friendly would work) in my current DAW. I use both Pro Tools and Reaper, depending on the project. Maybe I’m just slow, but it’s there an example how to properly program EMU as a VST? 🤞🏻

What's the VST for using this on Ableton? I'm new to lighting, but a veteran in music production. I understand that you can program this to run with a midi track on your Ableton backing tracks, for light sync on live shows. Great video, thanks for your help ✌️

The EMU software features a VST. So it's a standalone software, but you can also launch it as a VST

Can I use two of the usb pros to get a second universe in light key? Struggling to get it to work. The software sees both units but won’t assign correctly.

We are trying to automate our lights with usb pro and emu through presonus studio one as a vst. We can automate faders but not the BANKS or PROGRAMS. The software says to upgrade to use midi for those functions....We could not find an UPGRADE. How can we trigger the BANKS and PROGRAM features?

Can you open up EMU in a DAW like Logic Pro X? I want to sync up lights to our backing tracks through midi

You can open it as a VST. I'm not a Logic expert, but if I remember correct, Logic may or may not open VST's?

August 30th, 2023 - any updates on when Enttec will release the EMU interface (box)? After a TON of research I find that the old DMXis system is perfect for what I need to do, but it's unavailable and it is/was unique in the market in that it seems to be the ONLY system that used a simple footswitch to advance your programming manually for live band performances without a dedicated lighting technician.

Hey David, Will i lose all the programming done in DMXIS software when switching over to EMU? (oscillator movements, banks and pre-sets) can all the data from the ENTTEC folder (shows and presets) be copied into the new emu folder? so i can open the emu software and start where I left off. thanks m8.

@Learn Stage Lighting I wonder how bad it would be to create a converter - speaking as a computer scientist. The DMXIS files are simple, but I haven't seen the EMU format.

Anyone know how to clear the cached memory ? I can no longer save any scenes or presets.

Are you still selling the box ? Ive found it for $162 in amazon but it seems like the old version, any differences other than the plastic case ? Would it work with EMU software? Thanks for the help

Why (still) using USB, when you can have more advanced Ethernet Art-Net 4 , sACN E1.31 solutions ? For the same price or less.

I agree. I use to love my enttec devices but for the past several years I've used and installed several artnet/sACN devices that are 6 port, 6 universes, configurable as inputs or outputs, can merge data, hold the look on data loss and they have been rock solid and only cost $100. I have also built several of my own designs and I just can't justify paying what enttec wants for a device that has less than $10 in parts in it.

For some people, the ease of no configuration, plug and play use trumps a few $'s.

@@LearnStageLighting There is nothing to configure for sACN E1.31. It just works.
