Phi, do Hue people pronounce the words “trời ơi”, “trà”, “trắng” and “đẹp trai” the same as Southern people would? Essentially, is the “tr” sound the same in Hue? I thought I heard slight differences but I could be wrong.

I asked my mom about mạ and o. She is born and raised in Hue but she says that's more old-fashioned. I always call call her mẹ and my aunts dì on my mom's side. So it's weird because my mom is from Hue and girl in the video is too. Generational Differences maybe? Anyways I never fully understood the tones in the Hue dialect. Nặng, Ngã, Hỏi all sound the same to me so I gave up trying to even imitate the Hue accent. It's so exotic and distinct I think most Hue people living in the Bac or Nam change their accent to match wherever they move to for ease of understanding.

I also have no idea that mom is called mạ or mẹ in Huế, but for "o" I heard from my friends , people from Hue do use that for "aunt" :D

She said that she is from the outskirt of Hue so let's say that that's a countryside already (even she said that, ruong nui thoi). People in the countryside still use it so i wouldn't say that it is more old-fashioned, only not popular in the cities maybe. It also depends wether your mum was raised by Hue person. My dad was from Quang Binh (also ruong nui), they use "ma" and "o" there so when speaking about my aunts from QB, I always use "o". On the other hand my mum is from Nghe An, so I call her "me" (actually mami but that's because I live in Czechia) and her sister "di".

U can find for chef Tịnh Hải ; she’s from Hue ; her accent a little bit slighter than the girl in video ; but people imigraring from Hue for a long time in South of VN will have Tịnh Hải’s accent

I find Vietnamese very difficult. How long have you learned . I can't remember new words well.
