Ultimately, it would depend on the the thickness of the leather. The cut around the edges is done with a blade at a 5 and a 10 and it doesn't cut through tooling leather.

I would love to know this too as I've tried it and it wont let me select leather

@@nickik1309 & Nermine Ghazal - ultimately it is going to depend on the thickness of the leather. I am using ReaLeather tooling leather. Platform 4 - Emboss Action with Fine Embossing tool - Force 33, Speed - 5 Cut was Ratchet blade at 5 first pass and 10 on second and/or 3rd pass. Finish the cut with scissors.

4-5 oz is going to be tough and just depend on the leather and the actual thickness. The Curio blade is only 2 mm in depth, so it can only really cut a bit less than 2 mm in thickness, but will depend on the density of the leather as well.

All leather will vary. Test cutting is the only way to know for your thickness of leather. Mine was cut with a varying blade depths and multiple passes, but it still needs to be hand cut with scissors after due to the thickness of the leather.

I haven't had the time to put the hours and hours into testing it, but it's on my list.

I created my own with the Emboss setting, max force, and lots and lots of testing.

You would have to test it out. This tooling leather is about 3-4 oz I believe. Ultimately it will come down to testing on what will work and it has to be tooling leather in order for it to take the emboss. Treated leather doesn't take the emboss as well.

@@probulb you want to first put it on the cutting mat and then wet it with a sponge and water.... if you soak it first, it will not stick to the cutting mat.

Yes, any material that has fibers is going to leave debris. You can use contact paper or I used Protecto Film, which is the artist brand of contact paper on top of the cutting mat that I remove after to help keep the mat clean. No, the clearance isn't high enough to finish the cuts on it. The tool just gets stuck.... if you have thin leather than maybe.... you need tooling leather for it to hold the emboss..... however, I have cut real, high quality leather on the Cameo 4 - here is more on that silhouette-secrets.com/2021/06/17/cutting-leather-with-the-cameo-4-3-mm-kraft-blade-class/

No, the Cameo is not designed for embossing or etching. It also has a 3 mm clearance, so is not high enough to be able to do this on the Cameo. The Cameo 4 has specific tools that fit in the adapter and an embossing tool is not one of them.

I tried that but with real leather you ruin the finish on it.

In this case, I am embossing on the top side of the leather, if you turned it upside down, you wouldn't get the cut lines to line up again.

No. There is the small or large base and you have to use those.

What do you mean by the base? Like the part that rolls into the machine ?

The Silhouette Mint is the stamp machine. You can create your own custom stamps with that. What material would you be making the stamps out of?

I'm planning to use the silhouette clear stamp material/sheet (I'm not sure how to call it). I saw a tutorial which used the silhouette cutting machine (didn't specify which one) to design and cut the custom stamp. Though the stamp was thinner, I prefer to use clear stamps.

@@dannicaroseaquino881 yes, you should be able to cut the same materials on the Curio as you could on the Silhouette. I have not used the stamp material so cannot give specifics on it. Hope that helps!
