This is our first video about the process on the leather for medieval scabbard. It is the scabbard for a longsword type XIIa - you will see some pictures soon, when the project is ready on my facebook page. I can only say that now Kasia is working on the nice similar, but smaller scabbard for the dagger. I hope that you will like this video :-). If yes, we will be very happy to see your comment. You can also click the subscribe button to see more of our films from our swords\leather workshop and already done projects.

Beautiful work. I would have loved to hear you explain the process and decisions along the way instead of listening to music while watching the skilled work.

Your scabbards are every bit as beautiful as the swords they contain.... They compliment each other perfectly!

This is a very nice video, both informative and enjoyable to watch. I hope you continue with these videos at your own leisure. You are both true masters of your crafts and I find each process and sword immensly satisfying to see. Truly works of art.

I have done a couple of these for myself it is a lot of hard work especially hand sewing the main seam down the back allhough the cross stitch one shown is a bit easier. Getting a pattern made for the sword first is the key otherwise it will not fit.

true. I currently work on my own scabbard, and the getting the leather correctly in shape and sewing it so its not too short or too much excess its very hard.

Im in the market for a scabbard. I just ordered a Black Fencer sharp longsword. Just a very functional and simple scabbard. How much would that cost?

@@svensvensson627 To make the scabbard I would like to have the sword here to take mesurements and fit it well. I must think about it, because I usually make sword with scabbard. I give you my email: damian_sulowski@o2.pl - you can write me a message and tell where are you from and I will tell you all about it.

It takes some two weeks since wood work, till the leather is carved and painted and preserved... It depend on the type of scabbard and the pattern on it.

Very cool, how long does it usually take to finish one scabbard?
@historicalswordsaxeszone509
@historicalswordsaxeszone509 2 жыл бұрын
Thank you. Only the leather work - sculpting, painting, preserving take one week - depends on the patter, if it is difficult it can take longer. It is also some two days of work with wood + the time of glue the wood scabbard.
