This was such a huge and unbelievable thing at the time. Every sport fan’s dream. Too bad the NBA is not as good now.

While I agree with your comment, the sad truth is that we don’t send our best players anymore because half of them don’t want to play / don’t consider it an honor anymore to represent Team USA. That 1992 team may have been the best we ever had and ever will have on that fact alone.

Maybe they should go & try living in some of the other countries! See how good they actually have it here! We have our issues here in the United States for sure. But this is still the greatest freaking country in the world!

I actually believe that the higher ups didn’t want Isaiah on the team. They clearly wanted to have a clean image out there while competing and knew Isaiah’s dirty style could damage that and make the dream team look bad. With Charles they were more worried about his mouth but with Isaiah who’s to say he wouldn’t cause a fight out there. That along with Mike and other team members not liking him also was a factor obviously.

The miracle on ice was the inverse of this. The US hockey team made up of college kids beat the Russian professional team in 1980. Might be worth checking out.

Everyone was glued to their TVs to watch their games. Beautiful basketball! I searched for mention of them-very little. I was so glad it’s on KZfaq. I watch this video practically every day and still get goose bumps. Last time Larry and Magic played

Michael Jordan might have actually had a point. The bad boy Pistons were a bad look for Team USA. They are universally known for beating the shit out of their opponents. I don't think the higher-ups of the NBA would have wanted a player from that team representing Team USA.

The one thing I wish was converted in the fox is the greatness of Ardvidas Sabonis. He gave young David Robinson the work on that 88 Olympics for the USSR

If I remember correctly, Chuck Daley didn't call a single timeout the entire series.

Hey didn't! They had discussed it and decided not to call 1 single time out! They wanted to appear to have 0 weaknesses of any kind!

Truly believe that if only Michael Jordan and Isaiah Thomas had beef and everybody else is cool that he would have been on that team, as he deserved to be. The fact that the rest of The Dream Team hated Isaiah, well ...🤔

Make no mistake. Both Jordan and Bird did not want Isaiah on the team or both of them would be out. Why? Because Thomas played dirtier than a homeless camp toilet seat. Thomas was a dirty piece of garbage on the court and intentionally injured players along with Laimbeer. I don't understand the respect people have for him honestly. They represented the USA and did not want Thomas doing his dirty tricks to make them look bad in front of the world.

Not all of them. Just magic, and Scottie along with Mike. That there is just enough to leave him off

You gotta understand that The Olympics are *the* global stage. There are diplomatic/geopolitical considerations in any pick for any sport. They really are representing their country. They arent ever going to pick a dirty player, or even someone who could be perceived as a dirty player, because if they did then in the eyes of the world anything dirty (s)he does/seems to do, it is the United States of America doing it. It becomes part of the idea held by the rest of the world of what America is, what it does, how it behaves. So when America is looking to trade with say Germany, or get their backing to pass a resolution at the UN etc, the German Chancellor has to have the backing of the Bundestag, who's members are answerable to the electorate. But the electorate, when thinking of The USA, are including that dirty act by that dirty athlete in The Olympics in their impression of the USA. So the Bundestag members dont have the backing of the electorate, which means neither does the Chancellor have the backing of the Bundestag. Which means the trade deal is much less favourable to the USA than it could have been. The resolution doesn't get passed in the UN. In fact the United States is starting to look a little weaker on the global stage. So now every negotiation is a little harder...I could go on lol. THE STATE DEPARTMENT WILL HAVE ASKED THE OLYMPIC COMMISSION NOT TO PICK CERTAIN PLAYERS.

Hey Neal, can you check on our newest basketball hero "Patty Mills" he's playing in the US now but we don't get any updates! We have heard of and seen the DreamTeam at the Olympic Games and played against them too, um exhibition gsmes! Incredible, like our cricket teams! 😁 A time never to be repeated, every boy wanted to be one, see one, play for America! But yes, "all" Olympics athletes were supposed to be amateur (and drug free), for a fair competition, rules were stepped on, disregarded, then broken! The biggest countries broke the most rules! They sold fairness for mega egos and American superiority over Russia and the world! 🤩😠

I just realized what Jordan said, the team had 11 Hall of Famers, but 12 on the roster. If they had put Shaq instead of Christian Laettner, we woulda had a full 12-man roster of Hall of Famers!! 🤯

Laimbeer was the worst one! I'm from Detroit & I can't stand him!!! Nobody on that team wanted Isaiah Thomas for the Dream Team! Thomas was supposed to be a good friend of Magics....but the moment he announced he had HIV...Thomas turned his back on Magic! He even implied that Magic must've been a closet "gay"! Even though he had been hanging with Magic for years and knew about all the chicks that Magic had been sleeping with! That of course caused Bird to turn his back on Thomas ...cuz Bird is a loyal friend! Bird can't stand people that say they are a friend but are the first ones to turn there back on you... when there's any prob!!! Everyone else on the team had their reasons as well...

For real though, I 100% don't believe Jordan had anything to do with Isaiah not being picked. You gotta understand that The Olympics are *the* global stage. THE STATE DEPARTMENT WILL HAVE ASKED THE OLYMPIC COMMISSION NOT TO PICK CERTAIN PLAYERS. But sure maybe it was Jordan being a bitch and saying "I'm not gonna play if the mean boy plays! I don't like him! He smells of doody!" 😂😂😂

Jordan just made it very clear... that he would not be on the team if Thomas was on it. I don't think he realized that the decision not to invite Thomas had already been made! And there were several other players on the team... that did not want Thomas on the team as well.

Isaiah's skill is without question. But, and it's a big BUT, his leadership didn't come close to what the Olympics is all about. Good job on the video.
@Sunny-jz3dy

The committee had already decided not to invite Thomas to be a part of the Dream Team! Thomas was perceived to be a dirty player ....as well as him and the rest of the Pistons walking out at the end of the championship game....because they lost! It left a bad taste in a lot of people's mouths! His attitude and the dirty play....is what kept him off the team! Basically he did it to himself...
