Agreed. They don't have the shooters to be chucking up way more 3s. Sure they'll have a few games where they make a bunch and blow teams out. Every team has 1-2 of those games per season. It's just a hot shooting night. More 3s lead to long rebounds which leads to transition. And the Lakers transition defense was horrible. But idk if these guys will even listen to JJ. But they did nothing to improve their team while the Mavs, T-Wolves, Kings, Thunder all got better, and Suns got slightly better. Idk how the Lakers think they can beat any of these teams 4 outta 7 times. Plus they've proven they can't beat Denver.

True. They were at least the 7th or 8th seed. The only thing is that it took a decent run in a couple of those years to get out of the 9th and 10th seeds-especially last year when it came down to the final three games and a controversial call. Had the Pels won their game, the Lakers would have been in one of those lower seeds.

In both 2021 and 2023, they finished the regular season as the 7th seed. And this year, they finished 8th which would have matched them up with OKC in the 1st round as oppose to Denver, if not for the play in tournament. In no way shape or form have the Lakers benefitted from the play in tournament.

Probably cuz they didn't load manage and went all out while playing in ever single game. And they didn't get to stand around and conserve energy while everyone else played d. Nor did they have the benefit of modern advancements in sports medicine and high tech peds. They also didn't have teams doing all the work while they reap the rewards in the form of easy stats. Probably also worth mentioning they all played real physical basketball not this lets just chuck 3s and jog around without laying a finger on anyone no d nonsense. There's plenty of reasons that all add up to his longevity not really being that impressive.

Rob is incorrect. The lakers were the 7th seed in the 2020-2021 season entering the play in and finished as the 8th seed in the 23-24 season. Both would not have required a play in to make it.

The odds of JJ going from absolutely no coaching experience to being a successful NBA coach are slim and none (actually, closer to none). Throw in the most narcissistic, uncoachable player in NBA history and your odds become even lower. To top it off, they just wasted a draft pick on a player who wasn't even good on a bad team in college. Now, you have the recipe for a complete disaster. Sure, there's snowball's chance in hell of it working out, but I wouldn't bet one penny on that happening.
