Striking the front wheel with your foot is not acceptable, you can shorten the distance to the handlebars by using swept back ones. Short wheelbase also is responsible for speed wobble others have experienced with this particular bike.

you mean there is a choice other than creating a 26" tire bike your feet hit when turning and pedaling? i hope you patented this amazing idea. apparently lectric and i assume the rest of the world until now, figured the only choice with larger tires was cramming them into the same bike length as bikes with like 24 or 20 inch tires. it should be groundbreaking news that they can make the bike longer and adjust handlebars instead. /s edit: to be clear, that's being snarky about lectric's response to this issue they made in the design video to my comment about how this foot to tire issue is just the consequence of having 26" tires on the bike

Can you share more details about the distance to the handlebar?

@@gregdpr1 Swept back handlebars allow me to sit in a more upright position which I prefer due to my age and arthritis. In my younger years, I used a touring bike with drop bars and I found that as I got older, it was no longer comfortable to use the lower portion of said bars, so I switched to riding holding on to the upper part of the bar.

I'm over 65, I have degenerative disk disease and arthritis in my back and legs. I ride a 20" fat tire step over, because I can sit in an upright position. I can no longer ride mountain bikes, sadly.

I can see why that will be an issue if you paddle with your heal or mid-section of your foot, you are bound to hit the front wheel. But most pro bikes paddle with the front front part of the foot which will not be an issue in such case. Not a deal breaker for me.

Thank you for your great review and camera work! I'm considering buying the XPeak. However, I'm looking at the high-step model rather than the step-thru model shown here on your review. Other reviewers have stated the high-step is more stable due to having the upper crossbar, thus preventing the wobble issue. The distance of the rider's foot from the pedal on the high-step is also further away. That can be seen on the stock photos of the bikes on Lectric's website. The price on the XPeak is very enticing. I'm also looking at the Wired Freedom, but as you probably know, it comes in at a much higher price + tax + a $250 shipping charge. Anyway, thanks again for all the info and camera views!

Thank you! Check out my video that will be published tomorrow it may help you understand some of these concerns. I’m not sure if there is more room on the step over version or not but I’m sure it will be more stable.

Great video. Amazing one handed riding while filming. Your seat post link is for a 31.6mm post. All Lectric bikes have a 31.8mm post size. As I was hunting for suspension seat posts, 31.8mm appears to be a non standard, hard to get size from anyone except Lectric with their comfort package. Is 31.6mm in the link close enough for this bike? I don't want the seat to wobble also.

Yes the 31.6 works fine you just have to tighten the thumb screw slightly

Hey Jeremiah, Always a fan of your reviews. You didn't mention anything about this "Death Wobble" a lot of people seem to be talking about, especially on the step-through. Did you not experience this in your testing?
@JeremiahMcintosh
@JeremiahMcintosh 3 ай бұрын
I mentioned it about 3/4 through the video but I wouldn’t call it a death wobble. Most lighter step through bikes I’ve reviewed do have some sort of frame flex. Especially when there is weight in the rack. This does seem to have a little more than others though.

@@JeremiahMcintosh Thanks for the response. I did go back and see your comment. I'm trying to figure out if this is truly a big deal as some have suggested or just being a bit over hyped. Sounds like what's happening is not all that uncommon even with other bikes. Seems like the EMTB certification process would have identified any major concerns.
@Mark-qv4bn
@Mark-qv4bn 3 ай бұрын
I'm starting to think the death wobble claims are questionable. I think the step through, is not going to ride anything like a step over. Lots of flex on the step through. I've had both, I will only own step overs. Extra braces could be welded on, they're not folders. It's easy to get on them, but you give up rigidity. Just my opinion.
@EBikeBuilder_
@EBikeBuilder_ 3 ай бұрын
Do you get the death wobble that people are experiencing if you put some weight on the front of the bike? like a rack or handlebar bag. Seems like a dangerous design flaw. That loose freewheel or cassette was really questionable. The more i look into the bike the worse it gets.
@cellsafemode
@cellsafemode 3 ай бұрын
this issue seems to occur more noticeably if weight is added to either the front or back with just the empty baskets. not just the front. it's less without anything on the front or back. but if you stand and go over bumps you will still feel it. I'm not sure if it becomes a problem at high speed still with the bike naked. standing enhances the issue though, I'm just not going to suggest someone try it at 25mph and get injured.

definitely a selling point for me. however, what is missing are any UL labels on the battery that they say is UL approved that may be a concern for anyone living in a jurisdiction that is requiring such things. the only thing on my xpeaks that had a UL label were the chargers.
@jfly2249
@jfly2249 3 ай бұрын
Since the step thru has the worst death wobble of any fat tire bike in recent memory, I’d say that the emtb certification is pretty worthless.

My first ebike was a Lectric XP. I like the company, but until they get into the 35 mph market, I won't be buying anything else from them. I don't think they will - they are targeting a different market segment.

Those look like size 12 or so.. i would have on tennis shoes😂 The Ariel Rider Kepler i have has a minimum distance of only 4.5" from the font of the pedal to the front fender. Since i ride with the balls of my feet more than really flat footed, I dont have a problem. I have the seat up and touch both feet on the ground the same way. I never flat foot bikes. You get used to being mindful of where your foot is after a few ride's..
@cellsafemode
@cellsafemode 3 ай бұрын
the xpeak has about 3.5" between pedal and front fender. tip to start of ball of my foot is about 3 inches. that's i believe a fairly avg 10.5 shoe size. i don't doubt riding with almost nothing overhanging the pedal can be done. it's not a normal or a natural way to pedal though. otherwise it wouldn't be immediately apparent while riding with people who have ridden bikes for 30+ years.

@@cellsafemode oh.. yes that's not much spacing. And your foot is not freakishly large. Well you know what they say about big feet.. lol.. I understand what you're saying.. even being adjusted and mindful of that distance, it's a bit of a burden

I actually measured 1.5” between the front fender and front of pedal and about 3” from front wheel to the front of the pedal. I will have a new video published tomorrow morning with the details and measurements.

i bought two of these xpeaks because lectric is basically a very popular brand and had a good reputation at least online. i can overlook certain things due to price. I'd be willing to even overlook being careful when turning to not kick my wheel. but i can't overlook the step thru instability when using the rear basket (putting weight on the rear at all). it's dangerous if used as advertised. i don't know if old people that seem to make up a decent portion of their customer base will ride these bikes in a way that the oscillations will get away from them but i had to slam on the brakes more than once just driving normal on sidewalks no stop it. I'll never, ever buy lectric bikes again and I've purchased 4 ebikes in the last 6 months. and i won't recommend them to anyone looking for one. it's not that they are garbage bikes. it's that you can pick from so many other options that won't actively try to kill you at 15mph that serve the same function. I'm extremely disappointed in this bike as it is so close in basically all the other ways to exactly what my wife was looking for (she wanted the step thru).

Lectric needs to stick to just making there 20x4 ebikes....bc they dropped the ball on this bike. Everyone in the fb group complains about steering wobble and the pedal issue. Do not buy this first gen 26x4 by lectric!
