I'm somewhat late, but Nd6 Qxd6, e5+Kh8, exd6 Rxe3, fxe3 and after the dust settles, black is up a knight. Not to mention, the pawn on d6 and e3 ard pretty weak

Well... An 1800 elo can play like a 1200 elo on time trouble right; I'm 1800 on rapid and 1100 on 5 min blitz and prop 900 on 3 min blitz and on bullet I just resign

Nah, the Ben Finegold show is awesome; enjoyable and very instructive (...since I've given up trying to become a better chess player, I might as well take stand-up comedy lessons from a TRUE super-GrandMaster in the field... just kidding, his talent can't be imitated ;). But yeah, I truly hope that Ben was kidding, and in any case wish him all the best.

You can tell even just by the way that he talks about the game that the player playing black in the first game is not 1800 strength (and of course the player with white is worse), at least not by east coast standards. And clearly missing Rxb4 is ridiculous. I'm about 1900 here in MD and if I lived in MO, I'd probably be 2000 lol. That said, I like these videos

Statistically, 1.d4, 1.c4, 1.Nf3, and 1.g3 all score better at the top level, but they all draw much more frequently than 1.e4. If you need a WIN as White, 1.e4 is probably best. If you are one of the top players at a tournament that isn't a round-robin, you'll probably want to play 1.e4 with White against the lower ranked players.
