Led cube 16x16x16

Running an animation on my 4096 pl9823 led cube (ws2811/ws2812 like smart leds). Using teensy 4.0, flexio, dma and custom pcb. Still need to tweak a few things. Channel 32 is glitching and need to optimize led setting code. After that i’ll move my other animations from my other led cubes here. Code programmed in VSCode and platformio, i like it a bit better than Arduino IDE.

I have built a few 3x3x4 and 4x4x4 cubes. With dual color LEDs. So basically the same as what you've got here. 🙃 Very nice build. 👏

yeah almost the same...just that they used 4096 LEDs instead of you using 64.... It's just 64 times the amount of work you did!

I'm a vocalist and I've been trying to figure out how I'd like to do my first serious music video. I instantly pictured how amazing this would look with a live 3d scan/Mocap of a head singing. Well looks like I'm gonna need a few grand or a few years of tinkering lol

Thanks, yeah this was kinda insane. “Luckily” whole country was in lockdown when i build this, so there was nothing else to do except some therapeutic soldering 😇

Oh and another question, how much power does this draw?

There are some other clips, you can see. It can draw 1200W of power for everything white, i have 4 power supplies in the base 60A each, 240A total. Normal animations draw less than 150W

Wow cool! So in this video there is only one effect, I can't see if the leds' colors are individually controllable. Is this the case or are the bottom ones just red and the top ones blue?

Ignore me, I am an ass. For those who are lazy like me, He has a link to his files at the end of the build video. He does an awesome job showing how he built it, some trouble shooting and then video of it working. AFTER then, the scrolling words have the link. You should watch the whole video tho. its pretty good and gives you a good idea as to what to expect. So, Malt, How many hours in the prep for and actual soldering? I would guess you have better than 20 hours of prepping LED's and actual soldering. Great Job.
