THANK YOU for showing how to adjust it. Too many people put these in and point them as high as they can, then also leave their high beams on and blind everyone with it. They need to adjust that screw and turn off the high beams.

You bet. I've been mulling these over for about 6-8 months. i was skeptical because the lens was so small. I even ordered only one initially. Oh, how wrong I was. I've ordered a second for our C1 and thoroughly recommend these to all Aygo/C1/107 mk1 owners. Even my wife was amazed❗

The new advice states that old-style halogen units should not be converted to HID or LED bulbs, unless they meet the ECE standard 128 and ECE standard 148, its more to do with using them with the reflectors in the headlight being specific for halogen. With these Projector lights it contains the LED sits inside a metal bowl which reflects/projects it;

I've bought LED H4 to my wifes Fiat Panda, I've installed them and they point to the little birds in the sky. I'm going to sell them, I just bought these with the projector, hope they fit and finally I will have a good improvement in lightning.

I was skeptical at first which is why I only bought one. Got two in now. Awesome. Don't forget to use the little screw to adjust the main beam and then you'll need to adjust the alignment of the dip beam.

@@PlanetNr4 Look for normal h4 but with CSP chips, they work just like originals. Never use COB chips, they are sh***

WHY did 'your MoT guy' say they would fail? Check the MoT manual section 4.1.4 as shown in the video. Bulbs will fail, these pass.

@@simonparnham8179 The only reason normal LED lights will fail is because the reflector in your headlight is meant for halogen bulbs, with this light it has its own reflector around the bulb hence it does not use the halogen reflector.

@@friarbishme the reason why they are a failure is because they haven't been type approved hence why they are illegal for road use, even by fitting these leds you are still converting a halogen lamp to be used with led which are still illegal for road use as they haven't been approved

These will fit any car that take H4 bulbs in the headlights. I'm sure older Saabs take H4s.

Most places it’s illegal to put led/hid in stock halogen housing BUT it’s rarely enforced and inspection stations will 99% pass you unless it’s not aimed correctly and even then most of the time they do it for you

I wondered how long it would take them to make something like these. 14yrs ago I put projector units into my old reflector halogen lights by removing the reflector completely. Both the MOT & Police questioned it at first, but accepted that it was a road legal modification to enable the use of HID Bulbs and seeing as the car had self levelling suspension plus headlight wipers, no other modifications were required at that time. Later it was decided that you MUST have headlight auto levelling even if the cars suspension was self levelling!!! Overkill if you ask me.

Hi cyclone cyd, Thanks for your videos they are very clear. My question, do you also have any idea how hot this projector LED can get in a c1 or 107 and whether that can cause danger to my car or wiring. If, like me, you use the LEDs as daytime running lights during the day. I thought that LED lighting would be colder than the original lighting, but that turns out to be wrong in some cases and the LED can even get hotter than traditional halogen lighting. Especially on a long car ride of several hours. A few more questions, Do you also reassemble the soft hood before screwing on the cooling fan? I think so, right? How much space is left behind the fan? I couldn't see that well in the video. And work the height adjustment of the headlight well. I have a 107 and it has a slightly different headlight model that's why I'm asking. Hopefully you can answer my questions. With kind regards

Your videos featuring the C1 are excellent. My wife has the same model and I am wondering if you know anything about front fog lamps. There are blanks for fog lights but when I have searched online, front fog lights seem to be for other variants.

I have 2 questions. Don't you have to remove the reflector that's inside a H4 halogen lamp that usually is in front of where a non-projector LED or halogen bulb would go? (look up 2002 honda civic reflector headlights) Also, I don't know how the UK implements DRL, but does DRL work with your lights? In Canada, we use the high beam bulb/filament at half intensity and when it comes to LEDs especially, it REALLY screws with them because of the voltage difference and you get weird results depending on your car, whether it be half intensity on the passenger side only, flickering, full intensity high beams or not working at all. Any input would be appreciated. I just ordered a pair off amazon and hope to install them soon.

1. it's usually H7 headlights that have this shield rather than H4s. H4 bulbs already have a shield built in. 2. How DRLs are effected is down to the manufacturer, not market. How any individual car reacts to a mod is down to the car and electronics. There is no one universal answer here. Look at my LEDs in Saab videos, these cars are very particular and you cannot fit LEDs without defeating the lamp check function.

@@CycloneCyd thanks man. I had bought a pair of Amazon and sure enough, DRL is having issues. While still brighter than halogen, they certainly don't beat my LED bulbs that are reflector based and at times, I thought the projector bulbs was underwhelming especially in high beam mode. The beam pattern was perfect, but it wasn't serving its purpose of being brighter and quieter (fan noise) than my previous LED set. I just lowered my headlights a bit lower to reduce interior glare I give off with my reflector based LED bulbs when I'm behind vehicles. Even then, it's not illegal in Canada or the US and everyone here drive SUVs and trucks nowadays, so they're high up in the air that even that is not usually a problem. Thanks for the reply!

It's great with both installed. The dip beam in particular is really good now. Main beam is better but not massively so because it still relies on the reflector. But you can always install an extra spot lamp to supplement the high beam.

In some US states, it is illegal to put HID bulbs in non-projector housings, but based upon experience on the road; those laws must not be not enforced at all. I'm almost thankful that many have been convinced that LEDs are brighter than HIDs, because it saves my eyes when drivers put these in their non-projector housings.

It's illegal to put HID or LED bulbs in reflector housings here too. However, these are not bulbs. They are complete projectors.

Not exactly, many older cars, around the mid 2000s, came from the factory with reflector style HID headlights, 100% street legal as they were specifically designed for HID use.

These ones are very good IMO. Dipped beam is especially good. Easily as good as my Xenon dips on my Saab.

Do you happen to know if these things, when used for high beam, need a reflector bowl inside the headlight unit? The low beam seems to have it's own little reflector bowl on the led itself right?

Yeah, I do. They are a cross between a projector and a bulb. The low (dip) beam is formed by a mini projector. It has an integral reflector and lens just like any full size projector. This is what makes the dip beam so good on them. When you switch to main beam, the dip beam side stays on (unlike on an H4 bulb) and an additional LED lights to mimic the high beam filament of an H4 bulb - thus it uses the original reflector bowl to produce the main beam. The improvement in main beam performance with these over an H4 is there but it's not a significant improvement. These units are all about dip beam performance, which is a massive leap forward compared to H4. After all, if main beam is important to you, you can always add a pair of spots or a light bar to the front of the car. In the summer, I will be doing a proper projector conversion, which by necessity requires the headlamp to be disassembled.

@@CycloneCyd I see, the thing is I do not have a high beam reflector bowl in my headlight unit, so I'm looking for something that can either produce a high beam on it's own (without the help of a reflector bowl), or maybe that can be put inside of the low beam reflector bowl (which I do have) and produce a high beam and/or low beam from there combined.. Would this technically be able to produce a high beam when installed inside of a low beam reflector bowl? (difficult questions I know, sorry lol)

I did use these and they are great BUT removing them afterwards is impossible as the clip that holds the bulbs in is blocked by the screws so I cannot remove them which I was planning on doing for my next MOT. I’ll have to leave them in now and hope it passes

Not sure I understand. i got our out for the MoT okay. If you do present these for the MoT, let us know what happens. Me and my tester have a "difference of opinion" and I haven't heard back from DVSA

Yuup! I have got the same problem, only when installing them. The adjustment screw blocks the clip that holds the bulb from locking fully behind the hook. I just removed the adjustment screws which allowed the clips that hold the bulbs to fully lock behind the hook again which holds them in place a lot better. Also no adjustment is needed for the C1 in my case. They line up perfectly without the screws.

As long as you aren't dazzling oncoming traffic and you have a good beam pattern, all should be good. Fit your standard bulbs back in for the MoT though.

No official update. I never got a reply from DVSA. My tester made me put my H4s in, yet I know someone else who passed [at a diff station] no prob. So, all I can say right now is it's down to the tester. Maybe I'll follow up with the DVSA.

It's shining too bright at the near distance. So I'm afraid it's most likely not good in rain (the wet road will lead to a lot of glare) nor in snow. What are your thoughts about this? The best part about my car or probably all cars with h4 bulbs is that it shuts down low beam when high beam is engaged. Less light but more visibility. I know this is counterintuitive but I hope you understand what I'm saying

I have been searching for a while to change the dull halogen lights on my mini and this is rpobably the legal way to do it but my question is has it passed through the MOT test?

I'll be doing a proper comparison of full halogen vs 2x mini projectors soon, so watch for that. Reading the requirements, I believe these should be road legal. However, some correspondents are disagreeing (on what basis I don't know). Since neither me, any commenters nor our local MoT testers are the final arbitors, I have sent a detailed enquiry to DVSA and am waiting for an answer (if they ever do, that is!). The dip beam is superbly well defined even if the performance of the main beam is variable from car to car (dip beam is what's needed, can always fit a small pair of spots in addition for main). And luckily they are a doddle to fit, so changing back to H4s for MoT time shouldn't be a problem (on most cars anyway). I'll keep you posted.

I am using Y7D h4 mini projector and there is a problem. the high rays of the right and left bulbs are not of the same height. Is there a setting to fix this?

There's a little screw in one of the tags to adjust them in the headlamp. Use this to get the best beam pattern and then adjust the headlights for dip beam level in the conventional fashion.

It's hard to say without seeing this in person, but it seems like there is too much foreground illumination in comparison to the down the road illumination. While novice drivers think this is good, it would much better if the beam pattern had quite a bit less foreground illumination, and slightly more down the road illumination. The reason being that the excess near/foreground light causes your pupils to constrict making it harder to see objects down the road. This gives drivers a false sense of security when night driving. You also see novice drivers turning on their fog lights for the same misguided reason.

L.E.D lights on reflection style head lights are NOT legal in the uk. Please check the mot, police construction and use act. Then update your video. If lights are not hid or led from factory, it is not legal to convert them and drive on uk roads. They must be like that from factory. Put a good set of bulbs in. I'm a 107 owner btw.

In Portugal, at least, if a car has then as an option it's legal. That being said, for Xenon/HID & LED, if your car doesn't have headlight washers, you need to install them. If your car doesn't have levelling system, you need to install it. So, if you have Xenon/HID you can go LED without the cops bothering you that much... in Portugal.

Under EU legislation it is ONLY xenon (aka HID) that needs self levelling and washers. LEDs need neither.
