Led Zeppelin formed in 1968 and went on to become one of the most influential, innovative, and successful groups in modern music, having sold more than 300 million albums worldwide. The band rose from the ashes of The Yardbirds, when Jimmy Page brought in John Bonham, John Paul Jones, and Robert Plant to tour as The New Yardbirds. In 1969, Led Zeppelin released its self-titled debut which was produced by Page, as were all the subsequent albums. It marked the beginning of a 12-year reign, during which the group was widely considered to be the biggest and most innovative rock band in the world.

I saw them in Vancouver in 1973 with my pal Paula. We had crap seats but met two fine young men with extra tickets for the 12th row. An excellent view and an excellent concert. At first we were told to sit down! Um, I don’t think so! We just had to dance.

One of my favorite Zep songs. I did hear this, in person, in 68-69. They were just starting out and were a warm up act. Except for Jimmy Page, no one knew who they were. That didn't last long because pretty soon, everyone knew who they were! I've seen all the greats in concert but this is the one i remember the most.

i remember when i first heard this. I had been smoking weed for a while and i suppose my body and mind decided we didnt like it anymore because i felt awful, I had moments of unbearable anxiety and felt like I wanted to just lock myself away, and I happened to have a couple of their albums at hand thanks to my cousin living with me, which I played while gaming to try and take my mind off of it. This song and Ramble On really helped me.. not for the lyrics but for the sound.. I will always love this song! It was around that time I took learning guitar seriously to learn music like this and that got me away from my urges for weed as well as puling me through that horrible anxious time. Needless to say im not all about drugs in anyway, shape or form anymore and it was this music that helped. I know weed is a fairly tame thing but it unfortunately doesn't work with everyone, thankfully music does!
