Another delightful reaction as always. And as a musician and someone who listens very closely to music with a musician's mind, I agree with you about the studio cuts. I actually think it's best for someone to react to the studio cut for a song that they have never heard before. They get the full blast of it and it's also the way we would have heard it on the radio and on the record album growing up. And if it's something they really like, then they can do a live version to get the visual.

Zepplin is pretty diverse. Depending upon what album you pull from, you'll get a different vibe. My favorites are from Houses of the Holy, and Led Zepplin IV (some call it the zoso album).

According to Robert wherever they were staying when the wrote this album he had lyrics and Jimmy had the music, but no title. There was a "black dog" roaming around the property, hence the name.

When I was a boy, I went skiing with the CYA, and a dude at the top of the hill said, as he put on some headphones, that Black Dog enhanced his experience. If you like the bass, Biss, John Paul Jones most recent worked with Josh Homme (Queens of the Stone Age) and Dave Grohl (Nirvana/Foo Fighters) in Them Crooked Vultures. I highly suggest!!!

Listen to any zeppelin song live especially 1973 and before and you'll understand why they were the best there ever was and probably ever will be.

Great reaction. I understand and appreciate you simply listening while reading the lyrics even though they may not have been completely accurate. Plus songs in those days had more than 1 meaning. Since you like Mr. Robert Plant’s voice may I recommend some of his work outside Led Zeppelin including the Honeydrippers (name taking from lyrics in this song) or his solo career. Also Page (guitarist in Led Zeppelin) & Plant as well as others. More recently he has done collaborations with women from the country genre. Not sure what music you prefer but Robert Plant has done all kinds. Enjoy as we did your energy and reaction!

Hi Bisscute, " Waking up the army of Guitars " Blues Rock at it's finest, John Paul Jones wanted a rolling bass with riffs that tell a journey, the Idea came about after hearing muddy waters album electric mud, as for Robert vocals it's clearly about a woman who no good for him & should know better. The cappella part was inspired by oh well when Fleetwood Mac were with Peter green & bluesy & was sometimes improvised during concerts. As for that black dog that's never mentioned in the lyrics, while working on the songs out among the woods at headley grange, a black retriever would wander around the grounds, it may also have something to do with the occult which I know Jimmy page was into at his boleskine house. There not that known as a singles band so if you really want to appreciate their music it's through their Albums. your channel wouldn't be complete if it didn't have some Zeppelin every now & then. The main riff in this song was actually written by John Paul Jones, the bass player, and not Jimmy Page. Every single person in this band was uber talented. (just like you 😘)

I have mad respect for Led Zeppelin despite never having been a big fan. I blame every, and I mean every, high school dance that I went to in the 80s ending with "Stairway to Heaven." To this day I can't stand that song. This one, though, "Black Dog", I just love! Wonderful reaction, as always.

I always say, when reacting to a song you're hearing for the first time. you should listen to the music _ONLY_ for several reasons, one of them being what you mentioned. Videos distract you from the music. You can always do another reaction to live versions or official videos after you've done the original, that way, you have some context. A great example would be the song "Hocus Pocus" by the band Focus. The original studio version is 6:43 and much better than the live version> The live version is only 4:38 b/c they were told to speed up the tempo to fit the show's time slot. It is a very entertaining performance, even if the music execution is not as good as the studio set. It's kind of crazy. I recommend both _HIGHLY!_ Btw, the live version is the one from The Midnight Special (1973).
