Led Zeppelin formed in 1968 and went on to become one of the most influential, innovative, and successful groups in modern music, having sold more than 300 million albums worldwide. The band rose from the ashes of The Yardbirds, when Jimmy Page brought in John Bonham, John Paul Jones, and Robert Plant to tour as The New Yardbirds. In 1969, Led Zeppelin released its self-titled debut which was produced by Page, as were all the subsequent albums. It marked the beginning of a 12-year reign, during which the group was widely considered to be the biggest and most innovative rock band in the world.

I wonder whether Jason ever gets fed up with hearing and reading patronising shit about how he must feel so honoured to play with the same band that his late father did? I wonder if he just wishes that dickheads would stop comparing him to his dad. This clip shows that Page and Plant are well past their sell by date and should have retired after live aid in '85 where they were utter shite. I wonder whether deep down he just sees them as aging rock stars who although were good back in the day they were no pioneers of rock. Somehow they are now held up as the greatest rock band in the history of music. John Bonham - great drummer and very inspirational to many but actually there were better before him and better now - I think that Jason is a more creative percussionist...

AnthonyPudduMusic It's true that there are plenty of really good bands around today. You just need to search for them more because you won't find them on tv or radio. But it's also true that the 60s and 70s was a particularly incredible time for music.

At the time of this recording, Robert Plant was 59 years old. Just appreciate that for a second. His vocal chords have been around for almost 60 years by this point. He cannot possibly muster the power and range that he did as a young man. Then 3:30 happens. The only conclusion is that these are not mortal beings.
