I don't have a favorite Zep song, but this is in my top five. The shifting in tempo, Plant using his voice like a soloing guitarist to accent and emphasize, Page being Page, Jones' best bass moment, and Bonzo doing his thing on the drums. Led Zeppelin claimed they wrote this song. But they plagiarized significant parts from the Great Chester Burnett known as Blues great Howlin Wolf's song Killing Floor. and did not give him credit. They were sued lost (settled out of court). They had to pay him a undisclosed amount of money had to give him song writing credit. If you have an early copy of Led Zeppelin II vinyl or CD you will notice no song writing credit for Howlin Wolf. Later reissues have his name.

Chod, my two favorite bands are the same as yours: LZ and Yes. One big difference between them, beside their basic sound, is that Jimmy Page was such a tremendous curator of LZ's released music. In all their catalog of studio recordings (eight, not counting stuff released after John Bonham died), I can only think of two or three songs that are less than absolutely top shelf. Except for that handful, the rest are, as the kids say, straight bangers. Yes, on the other hand, was hugely experimental, had many different line-ups, and was always completely fearless. Unfortunately for their discography, that means there are a lot of duds in the catalog. Sometimes whole albums, LOL. But when Yes soared into the stratosphere, nobody could touch them. Their great songs are on a whole different level; they're transcendent, even spiritual. I couldn't live without either of them. It's so wonderful to watch you discovering all this fantastic music. Thanks for sharing.

The big tempo change was known as a "rave up" and bands of the time often did this to spice up the song and get the audience grooving. JPJ is vastly under rated and magnificent. He has an interest in jazz which actually made him a bit of a different bass player because he would take jazz elements and incorporate them into Zep's blues/hard rock format. My favorite Zep song is The Rain Song. My least favorite is Down By the Seaside - which I don't think you've reacted to yet. One of the amazing things about Zep is that any other band would be thrilled to have what someone might consider Zep's "worst" or "least favorite" song.

After all these years I DO have a favorite, favorite tie between "Over the Hills & Far Away" and "The Song Remains the Same". Great take on "Expectations" Chod. Matter of fact, I loved your reaction so much when you listened to Gentle Giant the first time I had my wife watch too.

I DO have a favorite Zep song. And I never hear any of my favorite reactors react to it. Misty Mountain Hop. I will love you forever if you do that song. I hope someone will tell me you already have. LOL I'll go look for it instantly

Guess what they never ever released a song off an album as a single. Imagine that.

"The Lemon Song" starts off based on "Killing Floor" by Howlin' Wolf. But the spicy part is from Robert Johnson's "Travelling Riverside Blues" -- "Now you can squeeze my lemon 'til the juice run down my \ 'Til the juice run down my leg, baby, you know what I'm talkin' about" ...

You are correct. They are most definitely the best band ever. Tied with Queen, Genesis and Heart.✌️♥️🤘 P.S. That's why Heart killed Stairway to Heaven at their Kennedy Honors.

Heart is the only group that can do Zeppelin justice. Ann Wilson is the female Robert Plant.
