Just another example of what makes Led Zeppelin the pinnacle of rock - my god, it’s all so great. There is no way to equal the vocals of Robert Plant, Jimmy Page’s endless genius on guitar, John Paul Jones fantastic (and underrated) versatility in the bass (& keyboards, mandolin etc), and then you have “Bonzo” John Bonham on the drums. There will never be another Zeppelin.

Yep Jones MURDERED it on bass. And no one else in the world to this day knows how get that sound John Bonham could get on drums; it so full. Jimmy Page always said that if he ever started producing records, the first thing he would do is make sure the drums were recorded properly. He felt that was a major weak point of alot of records from the 60's and should be a producer's first priority. Shout out to Jimmy and Bonham; Jimmy kept his word.

John Paul Jones only plays killer bass lines, I had a harder time learning Zep songs on the bass than I did learning rush, his bass lines are structured with pure blues insanity...in my opinion the music from zeppelin would have been anemic with any other bass player, who else is keeping up with John Bonham....

Yeah, funky, funky, indeed. Heavy psychedelic blues - part Howlin' Wolf, part Robert Johnson, all Led Zeppelin. Be sure to check out "How Many More Times," "Good Times, Bad Times," "Heartbreaker," and for another something funky "The Crunge"
@gregrambo606
@gregrambo606 4 жыл бұрын
It's just too bad Howlin' Wolf had to sue Jimmy Page and company to receive co-writing credit. This would become a recurring theme throughout Zeppelin's career: Page plagiarizing (stealing) other people's material and refusing to credit the source. It's the one thing that has tarnished Zeppelin's image over the years. As a matter of fact, Page and Plant are having to go back to court now for round 2 of the Randy California-Spirit trial regarding Stairway to heaven and the fact Page stole the acoustic part of that song from Spirit. Page and Plant lost the appeal, and one gets the feeling there's a good chance they'll lose the second trial as well.

PLEASE stop cutting off the end of songs!! Not only are there beautiful endings and last second surprises that happen on nearly every song, but it is a respect thing for a song. You let that baby play to the end. Period. P.S. Especially Zeppelin :) Love ya!!

Zepp fans dont warm up to the idea that many of their songs in the early days were covers, and that the band did not give credits to the original artist till much later. Gallows pole would be a great example. Word for word cover song.

@twistthenewtrend - if you want to know who started all the lemon squeezing, check out Robert Johnson - Traveling Riverside Blues. This song is an homage to him - one old guy on a stage with a guitar and his voice and a chair. There is mythology surrounding him - that he got really good at the guitar really quickly by making a deal with the Devil (He is a character in the movie "Oh brother, Where Art Thou"). www.biography.com/musician/robert-johnson
