Is it possible I need to go back and listen to every Led Zeppelin song again after reacting to this one and realizing it's not what I remember?

Ace - you still haven't heard the whole song that was 10 minutes of the 30 minute version , this particular video cuts jimmy Page off in his prime ,that bow guitar section was just getting warmed up. You need to wwatch the whole version i promise you - it is genius . the bow thing pioneered by JP it also appears on the song how many more times. Dazed and confused was almost their signature song and they did a different version at every live performance , it is basically about a tumultuous relationship. Th more you listen to Led Zeppelin the more you will get out of it - they are all virtuoso musicians and someting magical happens when they play together. If you want to hear more of their very bluesy stuff try Since i benn loving you from the MSG concert 73 , i can't quit you baby from Royal Albert Hall 1970 and the studio version of Tea for one from the presence album . But do go back and hear the whole of dazed and confused even if you just listen for yourself .it ios from the soundtrack of the movie the song remains the same and you may need to watch that to see it. Keep going !!

No freaking way. A 30 minute song? That's insane. I will have to revisit this song in the future then. I did see there is a movie, but I guess I don't understand. Is it a full concert turned into a movie or is there a movie with part of it being a Led Zeppelin concert?

The movie is based on the 1973 concert performance at MSG but it also shows the four members at home , with families and then in four sequences of the things that particularly relate to them. Jimmy page 's dream sequence is in dazed and confused and shows him climbing a mountain and looking up into the face of a hooded wizard where he sees his own face as an old man and then regresses to a baby. You will probably recognise the wizard as the figure on LZ cover art. Honestly he was just getting going with the violin bow - you have to see the rest of it. you will see the robert plant and john paul jones sequence if you react to no quarter and the rain song . i agree with the comment below , the way to get the most out of them is to listen in album order track by track and then you will understand the evolution of the music. they were an album band, they created beautiful albums not just a few good singles , you will not be disappointed by them and you will be amazed by the variety of styles Happy listening!! . @@AceofBadeReacts

I saw Led Zeppelin do this song in concert in 1969 and 1970. They are electrifying in concert.

I was at this concert in 1973 at MSG in NY! What an awesome concert it was!!! You had to be there ❤❤ Every time I saw Zep in concert the same song for example was always a little different. They improvised as they went along. That’s how in sync they were with each other. Never once was I disappointed at any of their concerts. I had to see them at minimum 25 times with absolutely no regrets! Best rock group ever and forever

This is from the 1976 Led Zeppelin movie “The Song Remains The Same”, except in the movie this song is nearly 27 minutes long, it’s too bad that it got cut here, but it’s certainly not your fault. You really need to see “The Song Remains The Same”, it’s an actual movie and is a little over 2 hours long. It’s the band in concert and offstage, at home in England, and fantasy sequences. The concert footage is from the last stop on their 1973 tour of North America, filmed at Madison Square Garden on July 28 & 29. When this movie was released in movie theaters in 1976 it was a massive success, with people standing in long lines to get in. It was shown in movie theaters from 1976 until the early 90’s, usually late at night with the audience consisting of mostly stoners. I was in high school and college in the 80’s, and it was quite common to go see “The Song Remains The Same” on Friday or Saturday nights. Not only was it great to see it on a huge movie screen, but a lot of movie theaters that showed it (and other concert films) would have a better sound system set up than most movie theaters so it would be REALLY loud. You can buy the dvd or Blu-Ray easily on Amazon for a low price, it’s worth getting because it’s loaded with extras.

@@AceofBadeReactsIt really is one of those DVD’s or Blu-rays you have to own if you’re a Zep fan, because it’s something you’ll want to watch over and over, and show your friends. I can’t even watch it without mentally smelling weed because I saw it so many times high, which I highly recommend. You can watch the movie on KZfaq, but the dvd has hours of extras, and several songs that weren’t in the movie. Like “Pink Floyd Live At Pompeii” it’s not just a concert film, it’s an experience. When I showed my 12 year old rap obsessed nephew “The Song Remains The Same” he was in shock and quickly changed his taste in music.

@@AceofBadeReactsMSG 1973. It was the concert from which they made their movie The Song Remains the Same. Every song from this concert is excellent. There are plenty of bootlegs, but little “official” videos of Zeppelin. Major concert footage is from Royal Albert Hall 1970, MSG 1973, Earls Court 1975 and Knebworth 1979. And then their semi-reunion in 2007 with Jimmy, Robert, JPJ…and John Bonham’s son Jason on drums. Outstanding performance by the way. The best Kashmir IMO.

Yeah that's what somebody said. I had no clue it was a 30 minute song. The video was only 10 minutes so that's what I went with. This song was requested but nobody said how long it actually was. I'm going to revisit the full version later on down the line

There’s another 11 minutes to this that involves a fantasy sequence with Jimmy’s wonderful solo over the top. Sorry it was cut….you’ve got to buy that DVD…….the full thing is no longer available on KZfaq.

dazed & confused is actually a cover of a cover. the yardbirds with jimmy page performed this in 1967 and 1968 as a regular song in their set list. jake holmes released this song first in 1967. the yardbirds released this song on at least one live album, maybe more. the yardbirds: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/jcWDp9ijuszIf30.html jake holmes: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/prqjqdZe1aerdJc.html Led Zeppelins version featured new lyrics, and much improved singing with robert plant on vocals. however jimmy page had already included his bow playing on the guitar on this track with the yardbirds.

Hi ya should check out "Since I've Been Loving You" Live for blues Oh & ya should def check out "Babe I'm Gonna Leave You" Live at "Danmarks Radio" 1969 Plant & Bonham are 20 yrs old tis course right as they were just starting out another fantastical one at the same venue is "How Many More Times" hope ya can do them **RockOn!!!**

Hi again ya could also check out "Over The Hills And Far Away" Live at either Madison Square Garden "73" or Live at Earl's Court "75" or heck do em both since Zep never played a song the same exact way whenever they played Live Oh & def "In My Time Of Dying" Live at Earl's Court "75" ya will find a bunch of their fantastical songs at that concert & also some at The Royal Albert Hall hope that helps a bit & i guess i should subscribe eh? especially IF ya are gonna go down **MyBelovedLedZeppelinRabbitHole** Weeee! **PixieTwirls** **RockON!!**

I learned from the comments that there is more to it, but the video itself was removed from KZfaq. Since that's the case, there's a risk of running into copyright issues so this is one I can't check out, at least for now

One of their greatest songs. Dude stick to your generation. You are truly lost here. You have no clue about rock n roll or Led Zeppelin. I think your mind is focused on something else. This song was so intense so incredibly instrumental.....the skill level on lead guitar on bass on drums is beyond anything any other band was even remotely capable Page was an improv genius. A true wizard who never played by the rules he played from his emotional spiritual self. Not sets of strict guidelines. He threw away the rulebook played straight out of his feelings improvisation master. Grand master. Plants voice was the greatest in all of rock n roll so unique ..only Greg Allman topped Plant ...as for blues singing. Drummer has no equal. No rock drummer ever was able to copy John Bonham. He pounded those skins like he was possessed John Paul Jones Grandmaster on ANYTHING BASS KEYBOARDS ACOUSTIC MADOLIN ANYTHING YOU NEED TO GO PLAY ALL TEN ALBUMS ABOUT FIFTY TIMES EACH PUT YOUR VOLUME KNOB ON MAXIMUM. HEADPHONES ON SMOKE A BOWL OF HYDRO HAVE AFEW BEERS ANY LET THEM DRIVE.
