The fathers of hard rock. You’re right about Bonzo - very powerful drummer, yet precise at the same time. Simply incredible! With Jimmy’s riffs, John Paul’s backing and runs, and Robert Plant’s vocals, they were the ultimate hard rock band. And as far as the conversation goes about Lad Zep vs Beatles. Come on, not even in the same class. Zeppelin is HANDS DOWN the better rock band. Give Beatles their props as a Pop band, but rock? Come on - not even in the same stratosphere!

1970 performance is great because Roberts voice is still full power and range and everyone else plays Impeccably. BUT, you should also watch the 1973 MSG version. It was the show closer and is extended…even moving into another song altogether before coming back. Roberts voice was still in top 10% of rock singers, just no longer otherworldly in its power. It’s a great treat to watch Nice seeing you gents. Hope all is well with you both. 👋

Hi Helene, they'v already reacted to the MSG version of this song. However, another song they should react to is Rock and Roll from the 1973 MSG concert, I think they'd love it. They've done the studio version, but the live version is superb!!😊

@@annemaclean6634 agreed! Black Dog as well. Funny, I usually go and check before I suggest something to see if they’ve already done it, but the way George was talking, it sounded as though they hadn’t ever heard the song live before, so I made the assumption they hadn’t heard the MSG version. Thanks for letting me know.

One of the best riffs ever in rock history! Just to say, this will be the second live version you've done, guys, in February 2021, you reacted to Whole Lotta Love (Live at MSG) another great reaction! However, I'm so glad you reacted to this particular live performance, guys, I've watched it loads of times, I think it's from the Royal Albert Hall, 1970. At the same concert, Bonzo did a fantastic drum solo in the song, Moby Dick, absolutely awesome! Now, another fantastic live performance you should react to is Rock and Roll Live (Madison Square Garden 1973). I know you've done the studio version, but this is something else, it is superb! Thanks so much for this reaction, guys, enjoyed it very much. Yes, not long to 50k subscribers now!! 😊👍

Would be great. Can never get enough of Zeppelin live! Thanks, enjoyed that! Edit: Would also love to see you get back to Zeppelin a little more frequently. For so much of Zep, I prefer the studio version. And I do here too, but this LIVE one is really awesome. I get emotional watching John Bonham drum. Thanks for doing it. This has to be my 2nd favorite Zep song. My #1 is probably not most Zep fans' favorite. Misty Mountain Hop. Not many reactors (I think I've only seen one) do it. But it's an amazing song. I saw Led Zeppelin live at Knebworth in 1979. They did a 4 hout set. The stamina needed to do that is superhuman, especially for Bonham. Most incredible live concert I have ever seen, and I've seen Rainbow and Pink Floyd....and they were mind blowing, so that should give you some idea how Led Zeppelin were....& no video footage will ever come close to the actual experience or sound from that stage.

Bonzo IS the greatest rock drummer ever. There, I also said it, George, haha! Neil Peart and others are unreal talents, but John Henry Bonham is the overall package--the power, the grace notes, the swing, the creativity, the stamina, and, oh, being in the best rock band ever also helps some, I'd say! Have you guys seen the Knebworth (1979) Whole Lotta Love? If not, the highlight is this super funky new rhythm riff that Jimmy introduces to the song. Goes on for like three minutes--SO Cool and fun!

I kinda get what you're saying, but as someone who's been listening to Zeppelin for over 50 years this is good. But there were better things to come. I mean "The Song Remains the Same", "Trampled Under Foot", "The Rain Song", "Dazed and Confused". Of course there's always "Stairway to Heaven", but my all time favorite came along in 1975 on "Physical Graffiti" and that is "Kashmir".

I'm a bit puzzled why they didn't cut to Jimmy Page's solo with the violin bow. That was one of his trademarks on some of his trippier jams. Either way, it was an awesome performance and more proof that they are the reigning gods of rock music. Bonham was in a category by himself.

WHOAAA! What a blast! I totally forgot how fantastic this live version was! Due to it being in the early days, it's still very focused on the initial intention/attitude. In later days, "Whole Lotta Love" became more and excessive/disintegrated - but the 1969 Royal Albert Hall performance remains a high water mark for the band's ability to give a raunchy, tight show!😄

But as with each of their approximately 10 covers they put on studio albums, they not only made the song their own, but they made it 100X better than the original or any version by another band. Still love Zep's *_studio cut_* the best, but this live performance was awesome, no doubt about it.

If you haven't seen it, watch Heart perform Stairway to Heaven at the Kennedy Center Honors when Led Zeppelin was one of the honorees. Jason Bonham, son of LZ's deceased drummer John Bonham, played the drums for them.
