Basically when this band burst onto the music scene in late 1968, they set the standard so high that few if any could match. They were the biggest band in the world and held that reign for ten years until their drummer sadly died in 1980. The remaining members knew they could not continue without him, so they disbanded. In 2007 the remaining members plus the late drummers son performed a tribute concert in London. Over 20 million people applied for ticket, a Guinness World Record.

Double Neck Gibson guitar, no one plays it quite like Jimmy Page. Led Zeppelin's is a top 5 Rock Band of all time and influenced countless artists after they debuted in 1969. The song you played is off their classic 2nd album from that same year. You might want to alternate Led Zeppelin's songs with Pink Floyd songs, they are roughly as good in their own way. For Zeppelin, try Studio original classics, which they often did extended versions of live. Do studio Dazed and Confused, Stairway to Heaven, Heartbreaker and Kashmir. For Pink Floyd try studio versions of Time and Shine On You Crazy Diamond and the Live, Pulse version of Comfortably Numb. Zeppelin has tons of great live tunes to try as in Since I've Been Loving You and No Quarter, both from Madison Square Garden 1973 and also look for any live version of the Immigrant Song, I've heard dozens of versions and it is always a Banger! Enjoy, you have no idea of the Incredible musical journey you could go on with these 2 bands. Rock On. 🎸

Robert Plant is still rocking it with barely any loss in his vocal power - he released his latest album last year, IIRC. This is also a great example of why I get annoyed when reactors share a single set of buds - in the late sixties and seventies stereophonic sound was a new thing, and bands had a lot of fun with moving the sound around from side to side, etc. "Back door man" may not mean what you may think it does - it' s like her man on the side - her "official" man uses the front door, but her "unofficial" man sneaks in the back door. Some guitarists used guitars with two necks, even three, because they allowed them to instantly swap between string tunes, even the number of strings, with a 6 string and a 12 string being the most common.

Now they are in there 70's in the 20's😉 Check them out performing together for the last time in an event concert back in 2007 called Celebration. There were probably in their late 50's to early 60's and they rocked the house out. Jason Bonham played the drums because his father passed away back in the early 80's so Jason filled in. We could not tell the difference between John Bonham's drumming or Jason's. Dad taught him well. I even heard in an interview that the rest of the band mates couldn't believe how much Jason played identical to his dad. I believe the entire concert is on KZfaq. you will not be disappointed. I have this on DVD and have watched it several times. Their performance never gets old! 🥰

You have to choose wisely to get good sounding audio from 50 year old videos. My advice for those new to Zeppelin is to listen to studio versions first, and then move on to live footage when you know how the songs are supposed to sound. Sure, live music sounds "more alive" - it is; that's kind of the point. But the studio recordings are what the band wanted to sound like at their best.
@bobhope3716
@bobhope3716 2 жыл бұрын
@@gsparkman Nonsense ! The studio album just has a cleaner sound to it and there's not any room for the mind boggling improvisation that the live versions display. Especially on Dazed and Confused.

@@bobhope3716 You say "Nonsense" and then go on to support my point: "The studio album has a cleaner sound..." I value a cleaner sound. Tell me, did you see Led Zeppelin play Dazed and Confused live before you heard the studio recording?
@bobhope3716
@bobhope3716 2 жыл бұрын
@@gsparkman No .And I'm not supporting your point. Studio recordings not only sound cleaner but the band also sounds thinner than they do live. My first exposure to the song Dazed and Confused was when I viewed TSRTS in a theater. The live performance is both longer and more exciting because it shows Zeppelin doing what they do best.....which is improvising in a live concert setting. No I am not "supporting " your point at all because to me "cleaner " is less impressive than the thicker, more powerful live concert sound.

Try Smoke On The Water by Deep Purple. Its a true story. The record companys needed albums to release by a certain date. Many bands needed a place to record while out on tour. A summer tourist town in Switzerland opened their places for winter rent money. And the guy hauling people out of the burning bldg was their multi band security boss. Another locale was opened for the recordings to be done.

And, they have the most popular/famous rock song in history. "Stairway to Heaven." Time is truly the great destroyer. If you heard the term sex, drugs and rock and roll, basically Zeppelin was the model for this every future rock band tried to copy. Your really need to do something live to get their true affect. Necks. Guitar necks.. Two necks on this guitar are differently strung. Count the tuning pegs on the head of the guitar necks. One has six strings. The other is a twelve string. This set-up allows the guitarist to change back and forth from one sound to the other without having to unplug, unstrap, and change guitars, plug back in, adjust volume, etc, etc,. Listen to an acoustic 6 string, and then a 12 to start to understand the difference. And if you really want to hear an electric guitar played well (really well), do a reaction to Stevie Ray Vaughan TEXAS FLOOD LIVE AT THE EL MACAMBO. It's here on YT. And i'm requesting it. Thanks -

Some people cut together their fan fiction videos from different sources and underlay them with studio recordings and others believe they can see the reality of live events from back then.

Oh you guys this takes me back to my teenage years yeaaa oh how we rocked out to this when it came out . Go check out their Stairway To Heaven …. After you listen too it go check out when Heart sang it at the Kennedy Center in Honor of Led Zeppelin. John Bonham their Drummer has passed away when Heart played John’s Son Jason came on with them and played his Dads Drums to this song …. So worth diving deep into the Led Zeppelin Well of Music .

It’s giving you 70’s vibes...because it is. If you want to do live Zeppelin. Then check out the Garden Concert 1973. They are in their 70’s. It’s a double neck 6 string on the bottom, 12 string on the bottom. You don’t play them at the same time. This is just the beginning of Zep, you have to check them out. They are not metal.

The guitar is a double neck Gibson custom made for jimmy page the guitar player for the song stairway to heaven. This band ha sold almost 400 million albums not singles but albums. I probably bought a million myself. LoL back in the 70s we didn't have internet sheet music was hard to come by so if you wanted to learn a song you would buy the record play it over and over to learn it. It would wear out the needle and the record so you have to buy another record and needle.. aw the good ole days .🤘

The first gig I ever went to, apart from local bands, was Led Zeppelin, in Glasgow (Scotland) in 1972. They were at the absolute peak of their powers and they shook my soul that night. In fact that experience almost spoiled me for every gig I ever went to thereafter. I would suggest letting the songs run with fewer pauses if you can, especially during guitar solos, to fully appreciate their full majesty.

By the way In Southern US blues culture, the phrase "back-door man" referred to a man having an affair with a married woman, using the back door as an exit before the husband comes home. Many reactors seem to misunderstand this as a reference to a particular sexual practice. 😏

@@jamesrowe3606 thankyou for confirming that. In Australia "back door man" is referred to a man wanting to do it with another man, as in the back door 😂

@@jamesrowe3606 I love all types of music genre. Personally I'm really into trance type music and the festivals but nothing beats a classic rock band like LED Zeppelin. The experience of going to a gig like that back in those days would have been ultimate especially in Glasgow.

Zeppelin may have spawned heavy metal, but they were really a blues rock outfit, and one of the greatest rock bands of all time. Some of the phrases Wayne stopped on were straight out of the blues world. The double neck guitar that Page played (not on this song, actually, as the video and music are unrelated) is a 12 string and 6 string that allows him to jump from one sound to another. This would be his guitar of choice for Stairway To Heaven, arguably the greatest rock song ever.

The guitar with two necks, the bottom is regular 6 string, the top neck has double sets of strings, 12 string guitar. It's not easy to play, but Jimmy Page was one of the greatest guitarists of the age, right up there with Jimi Hendrix, Jeff Beck, "slow hand" Eric Clapton, and David Gilmore

Maybe the most primal guitar riff in all of rock, right here. Awesome rhythm, emphatic drumming, vocals and sound effects. Took a Willie Dixon song with extra lyrics to the next level, and then some.
