@@johncarpenter3751 First things first, let us clear up any issues to do with influence. There is not a band on the list of the greatest rockers who haven’t borrowed, begged or stolen influence and inspiration from their predecessors or peers. The Beatles, for some time, were just a composite of Little Richard, Buddy Holly and Chuck Berry. Likewise, The Rolling Stones covered themselves so neatly in the mud of the Missippi music scene that some even thought they were from the deep south instead of Dartford. Pink Floyd would take inspiration from The Beatles and so on. But nobody borrowed influence like Led Zeppelin did.

Live versions are so good to see. They never performed a song the same way twice. They were Gods then and are still now. Robert Plants vocals are so seductive, Jimmy Page did things on the guitar never seen before, John Bohnam on drums was a beast, and John Paul Jones (JPJ) was a magician with everything else. They were a band ahead of their time in many ways. Great reaction!

Whole Lotta Love was an old blues song by Willie Dixon. Led Zep did it for Led Zeppelin II and was one of the only singles they released. They did not do top 40. they were album and live only. Jimmy Page was a well known guitarist in England and put together a band in 1968. He wanted a group that would so more then standard pop of the 60s. He took on John Paul Jones, he knew from playing studio tracks for bass and keyboard. He found Robert Plant singing at a small teacher's college in northern England trying to break in the biz. Jimmy loved Robert's voice. Robert was 19. And Robert suggested a friend for drums, John Bonham. He was fierce. When they put out their rookie album it shook the music world and Led Zeppelin went on to dominate the 70s. They were and are still the Gods of Rock. They are GOATS. The greatest of whatever they played or sung. They are much deeper then the garden variety hard rock group.,

Probably the most liked band in history. The Beatles were extremely liked too but they did different music than Zeppelin. These songs will always give people a natural high. That's how they were made. Jimmy Page knew what he was doing in the studio. He mixed and mastered a lot of the songs. He was a stidio musician before The Yardbirds.

Zeppelin is the band you want to listen to when you want to run sprints or you want to tear a phonebook in half!! Pink Floyd is the group you want to listen to if you want to float down a river or just close your eyes and seep into space!! They're in a way polar opposites but I've heard opposites attract! However on occasion they kind of crossover and Zeppelin will bring you something wonderful and soft and Floyd will bring you something pounding and hard driving!! The two monster groups that will go on!!!!

To my knowledge, Jimmy Page was the first guitarist to have a double-necked guitar built for him. It was used to switch from 12-strings to 6-strings when they played Stairway to Heaven in concert. Jimmy did indeed use a bow (a cello bow to some others say it’s a violin bow); it was used on Dazed and Confused, from Led Zep I.

Sev, your totally correct about classic rock having a groove. Most of the rock musicians back in the day (late 60's & 70's) were influenced by old school soul and blues musicians. That's when the genre lines started to be blurred and not so black and white! 😁❤️🎼🤘

So drummer John Henry Bonham who passed away in 1980 is considered to be the best and most influential rock drummer ever. Ask every drummers Top 5 best ever, you can be shure most would name John Bonham in their list. His power and groove were just insane. You like good drummers so I highly recommend you react to "Moby Dick" live at the Royal Albert Hall, London, 1970. Best drum solo ever. Period.

Start with Led Zeppelin I, track 1, "Good Times, Bad Times", then let it play through the entire discography. They changed and evolved throughout the '70's especially after Robert Plant ruined his voice and needed vocal chord surgery, but they still never let you down. Houses of the Holy is their best album IMHO. Not a bad track on it, but that's when I feel their peak was. They were the best band in the world in 1972-73. But then again, 1973-1975 was the pinnacle of rock music. Some would claim that the last two years of the '60's were the best, and yes, they were great and produced some great bands, but none of them really made their best efforts until the early '70's.

Jimmy Page - lead guitar; Robert Plant - lead vocals, harmonica, tambourine; John Paul Jones - bass guitar, keyboards, and you name it; John Bonham (Bonzo) - drums. Four geniuses at their craft. Led Zeppelin has a lot of variety in their arsenal of songs: hard rock, prog rock, blues, blues/rock, acoustic, ballads, and more I can't think of. They are a rabbit hole for sure.

I am 62 years old, fantastic reactions to the great bands of the 60s, 70s, 80s, they were the ones who wrote the history of modern music in a blank book, everything was yet to be created and they did it with a lot of talent, inventing new sounds and perfecting and creating new instruments in the end without them now everything would be different. Good for your musical culture. I realize that today's young people try to analyze the lyrics of songs literally, without realizing the social movements of the time, without seeing that many of the lyrics had to be read between the lines or had a double meaning, many ironic . Like Master Zappa. the youth revolution arrived and with them also free love. Whole Lotta Love is clearly a song of a sexual nature, the sounds that John Paul and Page make and Plant's gasps and screams are nothing more than the moment of ecstasy in the sexual act. greetings from Barcelona Keep rocking

Led Zeppelin was the epidemy of acid rock. They pretty much started the whole genre. You just pop whatever pill you want or smoke a big one and sit back for the ride. When you put one of the most unique singers of all time, add a guitar player that was a master followed by an outstanding driving drummer and excellent bass backup, and you get this. The group is iconic, their music is outlandish but perfect for that time in music history.

You have stumbled onto a pattern: Tool, Pink Floyd and this Led Zep song would be ProgRock (progressive). One key factor is that the time signature of the songs change. Pink Floyd is the master of ProgRock. Led Zep was a great group that could easily do both Prog Rock and good old fashion Rock. For more Prog rock -the group Rush should be next for you. For good classic Rock - Black Sabbath should be next. It's nice to see your enthusiasm for the music from my youth!

Hey , enjoyed your intro and outtro re the piano guy - funny. And yes, this is a glued-together video, the sound's impressive but the visuals are a proper mish-mash from all over the place. Almost to me like someone made it, and they WTF allowed/accepted it as official on YT, and it's become the one that reactors react to. Because the thing about Led Zep is there's so little live footage of this band, not sure why but it's true. They didn't do a lot visually compared to many 70s contemporaries. Other than The Song Remains the Same, which came out in '76, the early-2000s ‘DVD’ was the first time officially that footage was organised and cleaned up and made available for people to see - over 5 hours' worth, in fact. But TSRTS is the most powerful and effective audio-visual artwork because not only do you see a great live show when they were at their peak, but they also had the idea to incorporate ‘fantasy short films’ for all four band members, as well as heavy manager Peter Grant, at various points in the film, without warning. So you get beautiful, trippy excursions, to which the show is the soundtrack. Plant's a Viking rider, Page is The Hermit on the hill with a light and sword, and so on. But in the meantime because that's a long film and hard to find, you can get a better idea of their strength onstage as a four-man band by searching online for their '73 performance of The Ocean at Madison Square Garden. CHeers!

John Bonham is one of Danny Carey's drummer Idols. You really should do a back to back reaction of Zepplelins No Quarter. Tool covered it amazingly well. Even changed some of the lyrics. Both are incredible tracks and not to be compared, simply treasured.

If you’re referring to side two of PF’s album “Meddle” - then I wholeheartedly agree!! 🤘🏼🎧🤟🏼
@gbsailing9436
@gbsailing9436 Жыл бұрын
@@papacarl2002 I do. And it will take some commitment to undertake that reaction. It won't be blocked. It will take some time. But it will reveal huge insights into future Pink Floyd characteristics. AND it will be a revelation into the huge chasm between todays music and the awesome unique artistry and experimentation of bands - like Led Zeppelin and Pink Floyd, from similar bands, both then and now. Listen for the 'bell' like elements in the guitar, AND piano characteristics in the song, because these will be facsimiled in 'Dark Side of the Moon' and later albums... So Meddle paths the way for their newer albums, in many aspects. ECHOES and the 1st side shows many psychedelic elements of PF's explorative focus of the time - specifically "Pillow of Winds". Perhaps you could do a two part reaction - One side 23 minutes, followed by another side of the same!!! I await with baited breath.

Ah, you really missed the great times, late 60s, 70s, and 80s. I don't think this would have made it on air if the censors would have got the gist of the song. Robert Plant is amazing on vocals as usual.

I am laughing so hard at your comments. Every single person in that audience was stoned out of their mind, experiencing weed for the first time in their lives, and those noises and sounds were all meant to enhance their experience. And you’re asking what’s going on and I just can’t stop laughing. Just hilarious!

Probably the best rock band on the planet. Not to diss modern music but Zeppelin's so much better In every way. John Bonham the drummer is probably the best rock drummer in the world, has an immense amount of strength and the drum sounds so heavy in a lot of his songs. Jimmy Page is probably one of the best rock guitarists in the world, John Paul Jones one of the best bass players and there's no one who can sing like Robert plant... Please react to the Zeppelin song When the levee breaks. It wasn't written by Zeppelin, it was written after the Mississippi floods when the levee broke and hundreds of people died. It's a mixture of blues and rock and Robert plant plays the harmonica and sings. Just fantastic!

That last 30 seconds was called a "psychedlic interlude". the song was released in late 1968/early 1969 when psychedelic music was still popular. this song was a forerunner in what became heavy metal. Another rabbit hole to go down in is the band AC/DC-Back In black, Thunderstruck, Let There Be Rock, For Those About To Rock, Highway to Hell and many more...
