After receiving the Tesla Full Self-Driving v12.3.3 update, I drove it through Windsor, Ontario, Canada to see how good it is. Can FSD drive itself? Is v12 better than v11? Can Tesla FSD complete robotaxi rides? Will FSD crash? What about Tesla autopilot?

Do you think FSD is worth $12k USD today? Why or why not? 👇

I think it's worth 15k Canadian $. But I cannot justify the spending over saving up for my future kids university

That's valid - people pay $50k extra for different seats and dashboards so $15k CAD for a self-driving car is a great deal imo

This is so sick! We are officially living in the future. 😱I hope with time and this tech getting better, we can get to a place where we no longer have to worry about drinking and driving because people can just get their Tesla to fully drive them home. I can imagine that would take a good chunk of years before we get to that point though. Great video!

18:49 The fatigue argument is very true. I do not have FSD (Europe) but I use autopilot for long trips and I am definitively less tired on arrival. Being aware of the surrounding is far less demanding than making all the little actions needed to drive eg staying perfectly in the lane for hours. I remember a 1000+ km trip from the middle of France to the far Est of Germany and I went visiting the city and having a restaurant on arrival, while without autopilot I would have just want to go to bed.

Absolutely. This is the most valuable aspect of FSD by far. I’ve taken a few 4-5 hour road trips and felt like a passenger without having to make microadjustments constantly

Your commentary is great. I’d add that it’s got to have at least a few hard coded rules just to make sure in case the neural network fails, perhaps.

You’re right, I’m not an expert in that field but of course there is some hard code in there still. Thanks for watching!

Why didn't you adjust/increase the following distance when you saw it was short behind that ambulance?? I also wish you would Mount your camera so we can consistently see the full car display to know what the car was seeing.

I could have adjusted that metric “Average” or “Chill” mode but then it’s not aggressive enough in other situations. This was my first FSD video so I’ll likely invest in the tools needed to mount a couple of cameras. Thanks for watching!
@benh3457

@@LedgeAndary NOT the metric for “Average” or “Chill” mode. There is actually an adjustment for "following distance" like 1car, 2car, 5car lengths etc... (or maybe it's in meters): (To adjust the following distance you want to maintain between Model 3 and a vehicle traveling ahead of you, press the steering wheel's right scroll button to the left or right.)
@LedgeAndary

They have changed it, it no longer has follow distance, it has been updated to chill, average, and assertive modes. It used to have follow distance until about 6-12 months ago

11:15 i think the car slowed down because it saw the rail road tracks in fsd v12 it slows down for speed bumbs

Yes, that very well could be it, although it was still far away. Still, nobody around so it was not a big deal

How long have you had FSD for? I’ve been in since V10.12 in kingsville and have used it in Windsor

I bought it with my car in August, 2020 and have been using it ever since it was released, V10. It's made huge leaps in its performance since then, especially with V12

😂 yup I got to similar situation but it was not a semi truck and it was at a round about in iIndiana where the tesla was hesitating as there was a car in round about and it was going slow so tesla thought it was not coming my way and entered and the car was coming at me and I had I to take over to avoid getting hit

Wow! There is a reason it is called FSD (Supervised) lol. It's pretty amazing technology but not exactly ready for robotaxi... yet... 😉

Kinda - I am a HUGE fan of Tesla as a business, but I gave critical comments about the software as well if you watch the full video. It's not perfect, but it is an absolutely amazing technology that is inching closer to the point of full autonomy. Amazing times that we live in!! Who thought we would have this technology readily available in 2024?
