Went to this fixture throughout my teens in the 1970s and loved it. It was always fun to look fwd to and a busy day was guaranteed. Never thought I’d say this but I miss Leeds being in the prem. we’re never gonna repeat the good old days though. MUFC👊OK!

Remember going to this game. Away days then were such great fun, must have been 10,000 to 15,000 reds there that day. I think it was in 1978 when we got beat 2-0 and Parlance scored twice that we had best part of 20,000 there and pretty much took the place.

i went to Leeds in the 90's with United. Mad times, especially 3 times in early 92 ? the hatred was real. being kept if after one match, pure lads waiting on that hill for us. Like a scene from Zulu. We were all just happy/daft and thought it was great.

I remember Middlesbrough coming down around this time 74/75 season I think ( finished 2:2 ) They gave us a right kicking. Never seen our fans shitting it as much as then & never have since. For those that remember, what seemed around 50 Boro fans also got into our end & were indiscriminately sticking pins into our limbs. Many including me had to get out. I never did get reimbursed.

seem to remember that one on TV, they packed out the R/H end. would have thought Leeds would have over powered them with numbers. they were a fierce crowd up at the old Ayresome Park. probably the hardest crew, pound for pound, anywhere in the UK going back to the late 60's.

i'm american but i been to the uk 3 times in the 90's. the football hooligan thing was basically over by then. a few things you notice from these vids: england was still very white, everybody back then was so much thinner than people on average are now, lots of bell bottoms and tons of mullets. i hate to say it because they did alot of terrible stuff but it does look like it was fun. as a teenager i very well may have been a part of it although not the extreme violence or vandalism.
@lennylaa1686
@lennylaa1686 5 жыл бұрын
yes, Mac, you are so right, late 60's almost a teenager, I was introduced to Aston Villa FC. by friends of my dad. I was hooked! Loved our huge stadium and all the singing. You identified with it all. You felt part of an army, especially travelling away on cheap special football trains. As you say, great fun, all the emotions like a marriage but you could feel real fear and terror if it kicked off!
@royayersrules
@royayersrules 5 жыл бұрын
Just so you know, they weren't called a mullet. That word to describe a hairstyle didn't exist. I think the Beastie Boys invented it. A year or three earlier than this you would have been wearing a spider cut or a feather cut. Think Rod Stewart or any of the Faces and you are there. Not bell bottoms either, bell bottoms were for hippies or hairies. These were called Baggies. Some called them high waisted bags or high waisters. Some called them Birmingham Bags. Later versions had exterior or 'cargo' pockets. Not to be confused with Oxford Bags. The following year drainpipe trousers were order of the day, although they continued to wear baggies up north! Got it? Good, carry on!
