Lefei Sparrow V2 (2-L) Flight Controller Setup - Crossfire/ELRS and DJI Compatible!

Bought this Lefei/RCbro product on a whim, and looking good so far. Pretty easy to setup with an ELRS Rx and DJI/Caddx Vista VTX.
Lefei's website lists this FC as the Sparrow 2-L. Unfortunately, BG and AliExpress both list it as a Sparrow 2 (which is the same as other products including a different purple FC which is also sometimes called the Sparrow 3), and an earlier Sparrow 2/V2 with horizontal pins and no support for CRSF or telemetry.

As the video poster has later discovered (but has yet to emphasize here) you MUST have Rudder enabled in your radio Mixes - even if not using the Output from the stab to an actual rudder servo. Otherwise you CANNOT complete the initial 1-and-done "level calibration." The stab unit DOES NOT "calibrate level" at each start-up - it merely "initializes" the on-board gyros. Your channel order MUST be A, E, T, R, etc also. Apart from that , a very well made video.

Switching to RTH on the bench looked like it was enabling Auto-launch. My Eachine Razor does that.

Ah, I don't quite understand that part yet. Something about RTH mode and full throttle, but I'll experiment at the field.

I am having trouble getting this to work. I cant see which pins are used and as far as channel 6 i can only see 5. I am mode 1 and FRSKY receiver and installing on a glider, elev rudder throttle

Hi, if using pwm rather than sbus, the manual shows the RC pin (second from right on second row) as being the flight mode input. Looks like you only get the four main channels and mode with pwm.

The FC does have Sbus input as well as crossfire, so it should work (the FC will auto detect the input type).

The sparrow after power up unitization is in a semi programming mode and if you move AER sticks to extreme it switches dir of control. To get out of that mode you have to give full throttle and then low throttle. I did not see you showing that. You called it arming mode.

Flies straight as an arrow. Good fun! I had to buy a 32bit ESC to run the 5" prop and 2450kv motor at such a high rpm, as the ones I had all desync'd.

@@user-fk6sy7if8ewith the 4200mah ion batteries, I can do 45 mins at around 65kph. If more like 75kph, the time drops to around 30 mins. You can use more batteries if not carrying a GoPro like me.

I wouldn't think it would heat up much at all sitting in its bay facing outside. I cruise at about 4.5-5.5A, so hardly stressing it at all, and even full throttle on an Ion battery would be lucky to top 35A for a short time.

I used an ELRS receiver with the fourth telemetry pin, but they connect to the same pins as Sbus on this FC.

I'm not sure if the sparrow gives the same 'armed' message via its telemetry as INAV FCs. I won't be home for a few weeks to test it, so you might want to ask on the RCGroups sparrow forum.
