I see hundreds of thousands of people watching abandoned videos from all over the world.... Even hundreds of people saying the same thing.. "How could these be left behind, so beautiful" . With a community like ours how come we just let this stuff rot away? Think about what we can do who can do what, The talent each one of us has that could be used to re-hab and re-energize historical places.... It can be done, we just need someone who can organize and lead people to the tasks at hand.... Because everyday that goes by, is another hole in the roof, another animal moving in, another stone falling out of the foundation... Another step closer to loosing what the pervious generation fought so hard to proudly make theirs. Our history give way to those who may not care but who may be reminded through the artifacts left behind.....

I think maybe in a past life you were Lord of your own castle and extremely happy. The type of dress you prefer, your appreciation of architecture, and antiques, it all mirrors a life you seemed to have really enjoyed. You light up when exploring. 39:00 The Toilet Tank Timer is a Gag, a comical thing created for people spending too much time in the bathroom. People would set it for a particular amount of time, and when the bell rang, times up, now the next person can use it.

Please be cautious what you are breathing in…I have had respiratory problems after cleaning up old places. The mold, animal droppings and dust can cause problems over time. ❤️ I do love every episode!!!

Lesley, those “tickets” are probably coupons for bearer bonds. When you bought bonds, they were not registered in an owner’s name. They were in “bearer” name which means whoever has the bonds can take them to a bank and receive the interest payment with the coupon being clipped from the bond. Interest was normally paid every six months until the bond matured. At that point you would turn in the bond to receive the face value paid to you.

The music, your clothes, your enthusiasm. It all makes such a wonderful experience exploring with you. Well done.

Hmm. Looking at the library room, I realized how obsessive I must be about books because I actually have more books than in that library! After a fire in 2008, I had to start replacing my collection of vintage juvenile mystery series books and adult mystery series books as most of them were destroyed in the fire. I've not even bought books EVERY month since! Would love to have a room like that dedicated to my entire collection. I'm practically drooling watching this video!

I believe the mystery item in the kitchen was used to assist in doing the laundry - you would pound it up and down in the hot soapy water to agitate the water and help shift the dirt from the clothes.

can you imagine living royally in this magnificent castle, you certainly looked the part !! I can imagine as the years and time marched on, as people passed on someone was gifted it as part of an inheritance. it would have been quite easy as the past owners and families lived there to afford the luxuries afforded the the wealthy. people pass away eventually and it changes hands. wealth sometimes doesn't last forever and money is hard to come by. it took much to keep up the maintenance of a place such as this. people could not afford to live there anymore and sadly abandoned. such treasures are left to decay as the castle sits silently, a victim to abandonment and like in death waits to be taken over, left to live it's last breath. you did such a splendid job at showcasing the finer points of the castle and pointing out the treasures left behind. what a privilege to welcomed into the presence of greatness. it was as if it welcomed you with open arms at having been so lonely all those years. what intrigued me the most is where the true artifacts are found in the attic. what could you have found up there if you had the time. it would no doubt have taken weeks to document everything stored there. you were so generous to take us along with you to see all the beauty and charm left behind. thank you for taking your time to throughly experience each detail with a loving, caring touch.

This is a fantastic place, what a shame such beautiful furniture shame it is wasted. The four poster bed i would love to have it. I may be dreaming but I think you have done this before as I remember you getting dressed. It is a shame someone doesn't take it over and fix it to where someone could live there again. Leslie, this is a beautiful castle. It's in pristine condition for being so old. I noticed that you noticed the walls inside the rooms. Yes, the material behind the fabric was batting. It is "wall sculpturing." That's what it is called. Batting is the material used in quilt making. It is also used when you sculpture walls. Instead of "papering" walls you could sculpt the walls. You would use fabric instead of paper. Sculpting adds a warmth to the rooms unlike regular paint or paper. I used to do wall sculpturing. I mainly did it for my children's rooms. I also added velvet "piping" in the corners and around windows. It adds a very nice feeling to rooms. I really enjoyed seeing this. I love your attire. :)

I use to think once wealthy the wealth stayed with the family..but it appears there are times that the possessions are left to decay by the family. Dust to dust…

First off, thank you again for sharing your adventures snd dressing the part too! That bed in the master's room is so ornate and classic , it would look at home in a movie for sure. The piano/library room has such wonderful woodwork arches and I like the color . I can tell that someone decorated that home back in its early years with a loving touch.

The clothing of the period looks well on you. The crown you see everywhere is the coronet of a Viscount, and the many bedrooms were to accommodate guests who would come and stay for a week or two at a time. Beautiful place overall, and so sad to see it falling to ruin. People often leave behind clothing that no longer fits, or has gone out of fashion. Thanks for sharing it with us...stay safe.🖤🇨🇦

Firstly, you guys have guts sleeping in there!! Haha. I would’ve been worried about bugs climbing on me or spirits. 👻 My favorite room was the library room. The color was so pretty. The archways were very eye catching. That awesome piano too! The rugs in there were probably soo expensive. I know they would be now, for sure. I love books and it’s so sad to see so many just left behind to rot away. That one bathroom with the same pattern throughout was really neat. Odd about the toilet timer. 😂 I always get so sad seeing such old places fall apart. As well as the intriguing pieces within. Everything was once appreciated, designed, up kept. 🥺 The history behind all these places and people is so fascinating. I can’t wait until you guys film another one. 😊

The “umbrella” is called a parasol. Ladies used them to keep the sun off of their lovely faces.

Quite a unique building, every room has a unique look to it. I can’t say I like the decor, but it was definitely high quality. The scale of some things seem a tad small by moderns standards. Too bad so many things are going to go to waste. Excellent job on the video and sound.

It's so hard to believe this place has been vacant for a while and no one has stolen everything or any graffiti. Surely this place wouldn't be left like this with all the antiques. And sure there is an owner of the house and property, at the very least the property. I loved the tour of the home, so thank you. The whole thing just doesn't make sense to me.

The dining chairs are not upholtered but rather tooled leather.

This so interesting! These people lived everyday normal lives as anyone else in there time accept not of royalty. Plus they didn’t look materialistic. Pretty interesting people. Thank you for sharing with us. Plus setting the stage with the clothing of the time made it more interesting. 😊

This was a really spectacular find.Some really beautiful things left behind.There was a lot of framed photos and prints but non of those old family oil paintings in big guilt frames.Most of the place is beautifully decorated and they had nice things .I really liked their taste until it came to that horrid orange wallpaper , that was definitely 70s as I had something similar in my bedroom but in purple and I had to put posters all over it to hide it lol!. I thoroughly enjoyed the walk around it is a shame about the damage thats happening because of the neglect .But these big homes are so hard to sell and so cold in the winter ,and heating them costs a fortune.I bet those heaters in those rooms hardly made a difference to the temperature in the room…Love n Light 🥰

36:33 Love those oil lamps on the wall either side of the mirror in the bathroom. Looks like they’re made of what is known as “milk glass” there’s an oil lamp hanging from the centre of the ceiling too. I have an Edwardian oil lamp and another that has been converted to electricity which has a milk glass shade exactly like the one at 38:11, but the base and font is brass. I fitted an inline dimmer switch to it so I can turn it down as if it still had oil in it. I love the look and even the smell when I light the one with oil in it. Oh my, the oil lamps in the bathroom at 39:08 are even lovelier! With matching blue patterns like on the wall. You look great in your period style clothes btw, Lesley 👍.

That particular crown on the chairs etc I believe, signifies that the mansion was the home of a Comte, or Count.

Lesley, what a wonderful castle. Loved every inch of it! The ceilings seemed rather low, but I know they were often made that way. Thank you for showing the castle in such great detail. I do have a love of opening doors, and so many doors were not opened. Bet you checked them first before you left them closed during filming.

Love your channel so much! I dreamed about someday having a big three story house since I was a child. I finally got my big old house in the country 25 years ago. 150 years old. 6 bedrooms, servant quarters and 2 stairways as well as 3 stairways to the basement. It was obvious which part of the house was the servants quarters. It took a few years to make it nice . But we lived in it with our 10 children while we worked at it. The older children learned a lot. After 20 years, our children moved out and we had to downsize to a small house in the city. It was too much upkeep for me alone. I still really miss it. But I had my dream house for awhile. We are in Ontario Canada. Our history is not as old as Europe. I am from the Netherlands when I was 4.

I just cannot get over how people literally walk out without a backward glance - I mean, the clothes!! Those boots of his, just the glass bottles even! Wow Fantastic Find. Absolutely loved this Castle. The livingroom with the piano was simply beautiful. Those arches and painted murals were great. Also liked the bedroom that went out to the balcony. So peaceful. Daughters room was quite sweet as well. Those colors in the hallway drapes and fabric wall coverings was exquisite. Many stunning fabrics also in the master bedroom. I wonder what happened to the daughter or her family that they would not claim this gem. So sad it is decaying away. You guys did any outstanding job showing this location. Keep up the tremendous job. Well done. Hey the only time I have seen a timer in a bathroom was for a heat lamp. So on a toilet not sure. The sleigh beds were in perfect shape just awesome. The wallpaper I just adored. So feminine and what we call shabby chic. I feel I must have lived a past life in France because truly I feel at home when you show some of these places.🥰 My Grandmother who would be like 107 now had French Belgium in her so maybe it is just in the DNA 😂 Also have English Scottish Wales Irish and German so any of those locations I could relate to as well.
