I FINALLY DID IT!!! I have dreamed for years of thrifting the entire Oregon Coast, hunting for treasures at thrift stores, junk sales and antique shops! Some dreams are worth waiting for 😊 I'm so thrilled to share my road trip adventure with all of you!
Today in Episode 6 of the Oregon Coast Thrift Tour series, I am headed back home to Portland but I had make time for one last stop! My husband and I couldn’t conceive either so we adopted the most beautiful little baby girl who is now 36. She found her birth parents and I have met them, great people so happy ending for all. She has also given us two wonderful grandchildren. I can’t imagine my life differently! I truly hope you do become a mother because you would absolutely be the best set of parents any child could have. If however fate doesn’t have that in store you are still a blessed, lovely family. The world is a better place due to the joy and positivity you put into the universe. I’m so happy I found your space. ( originally through A Recycled Life) I so look forward to that smile of yours and the twinkle in your eyes!☺️🇨🇦

You should write the story on paper ( maybe fancy note cards) for each of your special pieces, and keep them with the piece. Include dates and details, so that the history won’t get forgotten.

I'm an interior designer and rely on being able to visualize in my minds eye and I actually didn't know that some don't see images at all. That's fascinating and makes me appreciate very much what you do without those pictures.

Your story about realizing that Jesse "was the one" made me laugh. He was right there all that time. It's so great becoming friends first, that's how it was with my sweet husband, we knew each other for 5 years, married 32 when he sadly passed away from cancer 5 years ago. My son is dyslexic, ADD, and Aphantasic. He's in his 20s now and he struggled academically. High School and college were extremely challenging. But he survived and is now working for a Child Psychiatrist doing neurological testing. He embraced his weird brain wiring & after seeing his own PET scan light up in all these odd places he now sees how his learning differences as beneficial in many ways. He is absolutely an out of the box thinker and very creative, and has an incredible memory. He's trained his brain to remember and works with teenagers at the office, teaching them how to focus, how to remember. He's amazing! Now, about finding a fella on Craigslist... I'm a single Mom and dammit, that's the one place I haven't looked. Excellent idea Thrifting Queen. You don't look old enough to be married 9 years... but CONGRATULATIONS on still loving your partner and I hope you both fill each other's lives with affection, attention and kindness. Can't wait to see the new kitchen. 🙂

This is so wonderful! He found his place! I’m all of the above mentioned too and was homeschooled. I really struggled. I learned to finally memorize what words looked like so I could “read” and to this day that is how I read. Audiobooks are my best friend. ❤️ Haha Craigslist worked for me! 😂🤷🏻‍♀️

I have that exact Bitossi vase. I bought it a year ago at my first yard sale after lockdown ended in my province. She wanted $5. I only had $3.60 in my purse as I was just coming home from the park with my dog. Best $3.60 I ever spent. I almost fainted when I saw how much it’s worth. I learned about Bitossi from you. It blew my mind when you were explaining how the mind works. If I have a hard time sleeping, I will visually take myself to my Grandparents home and do a tour. I've also built a home and decorated every room in it with just my mind. Thank You!!!

Yes! Don’t loose hope. Change is good. The universe was just waiting for you to find your new home. After not being able to conceive for 10 years, I got pregnant VERY shortly after my husband and I made a big, major move to another state. So I always felt the universe was just waiting for us to be in the right place to raise our family. Be strong!

You have a gift of seeing the positive in everything. It took me a very long time to realize there could be a bright side to most things. My daughter and I are both on the spectrum and that has created different strengths for us. I am more image driven (in my minds eye) and map out situations and places before I experience them. My daughter is more in the moment and spontaneously creative. She is always creating a whirlwind in her room with new ideas. But when we travel together it’s perfect. I’ve spent months planning and learning and mapping out our adventures. She is along for the ride and having fun in the moment. And we both have a great time.

The biggest problem with have no mind’s eye is when you lose someone and can’t relive your memories. My daughter passed 2 years ago and to ‘see’ her I need to look at photos or the portraits of her that I painted.

honestly i haven't been so much into mid-century modern, but your channel has really opened my eyes. i've been a collector since childhood though and can really spot a find. sometimes it will be a piece of MCM which i'll usually just sell. you and your channel though are really the whole package. i have no idea why you have less subs than people FAR less informative, charming, and creative. hope you always stay you and i'll keep following for the great stories and everything else.

I pull all my memories out of my minds eye. When asked about something, I say let me see, and I do. We walked my sister's dog on a very long beach. We lost the house keys. I remembered, returning down the beach in reverse each step in high soft sand, and walked up to keys after about 15 minutes. Otherwise I'm quite ordinary.

You’ve taught me so much! As a part-time reseller, I never had much interest in pottery, wood and sterling silver until I started watching and learning from you. I bought a 3-piece pottery set recently for $8 and sold it in a week for $250. You have opened my eyes! I appreciate your commitment and get anxious if I don’t see a new video by 11PM Eastern 🤣🤣. I’m in awe of the pottery, MCM furniture and hand-carved things you find. Those items are hard to come by in the goodwills in CT. Keep up the great work. I can’t wait for the next road trip!

Check out supplementing w green lipped mussel oil to enhance fertility. Johanna Budwig has information on the value of omega 3 fatty acids. She was a notable German scientist. I found this out too late for me but adopted boy girl twins from Romania. That was a real saga! They are now 30 years old and i am a grandma 7 times over. There is always a way...pray!

I am from South Africa and through your channel I get to experience the true beauty of your country. i wish we had as many antique shops and Goodwills here as thrifting mid century is also my passion . I can relate to your shock about finding out some people can "see" their thoughts. A couple years ago my mind was blown when I learned that some people "hear" themselves think, like hey talk to themselves in their head and there is a voice that they hear in their head. What?? I always thought things like "it's so loud in here I can't even hear myself think" or "my inner voice was telling me ___ " etc, were just phrases people said. I had no clue some people actually *heard* voices in their head.

It’s unbelievable! And some people hear actual music in their mind! In the singers voice 🤯 It’s all so wild. I still struggle to explain to others that I have no images or sound… just thought. But I am good at mediation and that might be why. Others have to fight off images and sound to get quiet.

LOL!! This is totally me! I have sang my entire life & opera was part of that for 15 years or so! I can not only see myself on stage, I can see the other performers & hear their voices. I’m 41 & I can still see & remember choreography from high school, I’ve just always been that way 🤷🏼‍♀️. On the downside, I am the EXACT person @Laura Caldwell described regarding decorating. My built in bookshelves are one of my favorite places in our home, but I’m never 100% happy with them & want to rip my hair out some days 🤪!
